Grassroots vs. Astroturf

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the White House have called opposition to Democratic health care plans “Astroturf,” while organizing their own “authentic” pro-Obamacare rallies at the same time. But there’s one important question I have, checking out these protest photos from Denver, taken by Looking at the Left (link via Holy Coast).

If opponents of Obamacare are Astroturf, then how come all of their signs are homemade, with all sorts of different shapes and sizes and colors and stuff…

and how come all of the pro-Obamacare demonstrators have official-looking and uniform, pre-printed, signs?

And as a bonus question, why is this worker for Obama’s Organizing for America teaching a man wearing an SEIU t-shirt how to use a bullhorn?

The anti ObamaCare sign with the rubber chicken on it is hilarious. Look out for the lady in shades holding the sign, though; she looks like a dangerous, extreme right wing thug.

LarryTheLefty| 8.8.09 @ 1:27PM

How dare these people stand up against the wishes of our Dear Leader Obama?

Quick, someone report this to flag@whitehouse.gov! These people deserve several decades in a reeducation camp!

(For the humor-deprived... this is satire. Look it up.)

Smitty| 8.8.09 @ 2:19PM

Larry, fascists and liberals don't like satire directed at them. Understanding nuance is above their paygrade.

LarryTheLefty| 8.8.09 @ 2:46PM

Of course, Smitty. Why do ya think I did it?

I agree: your mob is more authentic than their mob.

Meanwhile, if your leaders had any sense and wanted to actually solve problems instead of just put on a show, they'd encourage those people to ask politicians things in an effective way. See my name's link for the details.

Instead, your leaders are encouraging people to act like baboons.

Hey, Smarter... if you really were smarter, you'd realize that the GOP has indeed offered alternatives, including (among others) the Patient's Choice Act of 2009.

If you'd bothered to research before spouting off, you'd not have made that goof.

SoCon| 8.8.09 @ 5:48PM

We don't have any leaders on our side because we are an authentic grass roots movement.

The real astroturf baboons in this ObamaCare mess are your fascist liberal leaders.

Geeez, that liberal lady is grabbing her crotch! Eww.

Smile, you're on candid camera! LOL

Hey! Klein! Enough already. Didn't you get the message yesterday on TV?

If you keep on reporting facts and posing logical questions you're career is OVER! There's no room in journalism for that nonsense.

Yeah...and what's up with those stick-on name tags the Obamabots are wearing on their shirts?

I wonder what is written on them?>

Listen up, plebes. Obama is here to fix the mess that you've made over the past few years and he wants you to STFU while he does it. He doesn't want you to do too much talking. Don't distract him with your petty grievances while he cleans up your mess. How dare you!

Has everyone forgotten that dissent is only patriotic when the left does it? Also, when the left accuses you of something, they are pretty much admitting to their own shenanigans. If they say your protests are manufactured, it means they are confessing to theirs being manufactured.

Now, back to work, plebes. You've got universal health care to pay for! This will be the best health care in the world. In fact, it's so great that Congress has agreed to partake. Oh, wait...

The lady grabbing her crotch is petitioning for Obama Care because she doesn't want to pay $10 out of pocket for some gynelotrimin to take care of that itch.

JoeCollins| 8.9.09 @ 10:52AM

In all this heated debate, NOBODY has ever brought up the most important issue of all: A "national health care" program is flat-out unconstitutional. Read the Tenth Amendment!

Whether it's a good idea or not - is not even relevant. According to the Tenth Amendment, any State could establish state-run healthcare (Massachusetts already has. How's it working out for them?). But the feds CAN'T.
