Republicans may want to "kill" President Obama's version of
health care reform, but without significant defections there's
not much they can do about it. Democrats control 60 seats in the
Senate. They have 78 more seats than the Republicans in the
House, where the majority can basically do whatever it wants.
Yes, Republicans are rallying the opposition and will supply the
largest single bloc of "no" votes. But without Democratic
defections, it doesn't mean anything. If a health care bill fails
to pass, it will be because Democrats don't vote for it.
