Nancy Pelosi Isn't Winning any Popularity Contests

Poor Nancy.  She's got the Congress in her hands but she can't get any respect--or at least love.  According to Rasmussen Reports:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi remains America's best-known - and least-liked - congressional leader, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Fifty-seven percent (57%) of U.S. voters have an unfavorable view of the Democratic congresswoman from San Francisco, and 35% view her favorably. But those who have a very unfavorable opinion of Pelosi overwhelm those who regard her very favorably - by a five-to-one margin - 45% to nine percent (9%).

Democrats in marginal House districts might want to keep these numbers in mind when they choose whether to do as Speaker Pelosi desires, or to vote to protect the interests of their constituents.

Bandow --

You write like your 19 years old.

Not winning any popularity contests?

I think you probably weren't alive for any other Speaker's tenure.

There hasn't been a speaker in my lifetime who was all that popular with the population at large.

O'Neil, Gingritch, De Lay ... Were any of these men darlings of the masses?

It doesn't matter one bit what national polls say about Congress or about individual representatives. All that matters is their popularity with their constituents.

Well, what about Obama's popularity with his constituents? Rasmussen has Obama's approvals at 48% today with 51% disapproving--not lookin' too good for your dear leader, Jeremiah, Obamabot extraordinaire.

In fact, Obama's numbers stink--only 28% strongly approve of Obama, while 40% strongly disapprove. That's a Presidential Approval Index rating of -12, the lowest rating yet for President Obama.

Only six months into his presidency and Obama is already tanking because of you silly, over-reaching liberals. Now is the time for Conservatives to really ramp up!!

Nancy has let her power go to her head! She's ramming things through the House without any showing of bi-partisan support. Her mantra is - along with her new boss - "I/WE WON". That is a sad c0mmentary on today's politics. They are supposed to be serving the people who elected them, not scrambling for power, making deals and totally ignoring the wishes of the people.

This is a prime example why we should have term/age limits on the members of CONgress. Once they get entrenched, there is no getting rid of them. Especially if they are bringing home the pork to their areas. We've hoped to get rid of Jack 'traitor' Murhtha for years. Hopefully with all that is going on, he'll be looking for a new job in 2011!

According to the CBS/New York Times poll, survey respondents get nervous about the low quality after the reform.

In case you are a doctor, and your pay is dependent upon your patient's outcome, you will strive to prescribe the best medicine for your patient, let alone avoiding unnecessary cares, and hope your patient will feel better as quickly as possible.

Bandow is reporting factual poll results. Which apparently offends Liberal (Reader) sensibilities. If it "doesn't matter one bit what national polls say", why did you waste time commenting? Did you trouble yourself previously with a post discounting Obama's 70% approval rating, back when he had it?

Pelosi, with her recent comments, has made herself the "Botox Pariah". Watch as her fellow colleagues ooze away from her next year. She won't be able to get a date for the "Prom".
