Obama's Health Care Fibs
President Barack Obama has been busy attempting to sell his government takeover of the health care citizen. In doing so, he contines to be, shall we say, a bit lax with the facts. Philip Klein has pointed to the president's, er, "mistakes." Other publications are picking up the trail.
President Obama tried to sell his health care overhaul in prime time, mangling some facts in the process. He also strained to make the job sound easier to pay for than experts predict.
- Obama promised once again that a health care overhaul "will be paid for." But congressional budget experts say the bills they've seen so far would add hundreds of billions of dollars to the deficit over the next decade.
- He said the plan "that I put forward" would cover at least 97 percent of all Americans. Actually, the plan he campaigned on would cover far less than that, and only one of the bills now being considered in Congress would do that.
- He said the "average American family is paying thousands" as part of their premiums to cover uncompensated care for the uninsured, implying that expanded coverage will slash insurance costs. But the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation puts the cost per family figure at $200.
- Obama claimed his budget "reduced federal spending over the next 10 years by $2.2 trillion" compared with where it was headed before. Not true. Even figures from his own budget experts don't support that. The Congressional Budget Office projects a $2.7 trillion increase, not a $2.2 trillion cut.
- The president said that the United States spends $6,000 more on average than other countries on health care. Actually, U.S. per capita spending is about $2,500 more than the next highest-spending country. Obama's figure was a White House-calculated per-family estimate.

I have doubts about a lot of the things the president and congress comes up with recently. Obama hits the good highlites or lies about the highlites. The congress just avoids the questions and the Obama's speech writers hit the High High lites that attracts a listeners attention. Pay or get fined or jailed? The present health care joke they are trying to put on us now will be like the volunteer income tax we all are forced to pay each year or fined or jailed and some like me even get to volunteer to pay State income tax or get fined or jailed.
Don't get me started on this other congressional joke (cash for clunker). Every thing with Obama is rush rush July till November to give you car away and go in debt? Hurry before you take time to think!!

It is the illegal immigrant community which is driving up the costs. Without profit potential, there will be no drug development! People from all over the world come to the US for our healthcare - what Obama (actually Pelosi as Obama has never written or participated in the creation of any legislation in his life) is madness. My biggest fear if the government takes over healthcare is the political rationing. As a white male, I'm bottom of the victim list. My healthcare WILL be cut for victims higher on the ladder. I do not see politicians standing up to the pressure of victim groups when it comes to favoritism. Look how much more money is spent on women than men in the UK. You'll have every loudmouth screaming racism when a white person gets in line before a black person. This is just a nightmare we can't wake up from if this ever happens. Every aspect of our lives will be under the control of the unelected bureacrats in the new health department.

So, let me get this straight: Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the democrats are going to force older American citizens who have obeyed our laws and worked hard all of their lives for the betterment of themselves and their fellow Americans, have raised their families and lived through and rebuilt after natural disasters and horrific events such as September 11, have paid enormous taxes for40--50 years and have been drafted or volunteered to fight on behalf of our country to observe a 'duty to die' so that we can give free medical care to millions of illegal aliens who sneak into our country. And yes, half the US population is pissed off that 46 Americans continue to go without health coverage. I've held steady jobs for the last decade, and haven't had coverage from any of them. My fiance has a solid work history, dating back to when she was 14, and yet she's never had health coverage. We can't afford to purchase it, the rates are outrageous. It's absolutely ridiculous, and it's gone on for far too long. I fail to see how bashing a president and republicans raging war against democrats is the least bit productive in regards to solving these issues.
