Is he still confident that Obama will govern from the economic center as he stated in his self-congratulatory "apology" to Mum and Pup before the election?
Update: A comment on this post led me to find this from Buckley:
Much as I admire President Obama, I believe with something approaching certainty that his spending will bring this country to its knees. "Sustainability" is all the rage as a buzzword, but a $3.6 trillion budget is not "sustainable." Doubling the national debt is not "sustainable." Inaction in the face of $77 trillion in unfunded liabilities (Social Security, Medicare, entitlements) is not "sustainable." This is math, not ideology.
I wonder why he ever thought a former community organizer would take a different tack.

a few months ago he said on CSPAN (the 3hr long thing--"In Depth"?) that Obama is going to bring the "country to its knees" as far as the economy.

I'm sure that "Christo" also thought that this would be a president whose syntax would
would match his physical gracefulness. Why doesn't he ask the Boston Police department what they think?

Baker --
Would you get over the "community organizer" thing.
W was a male cheerleader in college. Who cares?
Obama was a community organizer in the 1980s. That was a long time ago.
People will take you more seriously if you make arguments more seriously.

Liberal Reader:
Problem is he still acts like a community organizer, his attack on the Cambridge police the latest example. As a community organizer, it was his job to agitate. That's what "community organizers" do. It's his natural instinct to hate the police, which is why he can simultaneously state that he doesn't have all the facts yet say the cops acted "stupidly." Yes, this man is no leader, he's just a community organizer who happened to get elected.
By the way, I've had a few back and forths with you and thought it was well worth my time. Because I think you're a reasonable person, I would like to suggest something. If you want to truly understand what Obama is all about, you must read "Rules for Radicals." I'm sure by now you've heard of the book, but I implore you to read through it so you can understand the true nature of our president. The book played a major part in forming his views and his approach. I've read it and found it chilling.
Hank| 7.25.09 @ 5:21PM
Buckley sold out, plain and simple. He endorsed Obama to get cheap PR for his book about his parents. Creep.
Missy| 7.25.09 @ 7:07PM
tonypal, I'm sure LibReader/Jeremiah is fully versed in Rules for Radicals: All of Axelrod's astroturf trolls are.

Too little, too late. This idiot can keep his endorsements in the future.

Well, you know what they say, "Liberal Reader:" You can take the community organizer out of the Marxist enclave, but you can't take the Marxist enclave out of the community organizer.
I'm wondering what it would take for anyone to take your arguments seriously.
As for Chris Buckley, he's not so unlike Liberal Reader: eternally callow.

Maybe someday Christo's kids will write a tell all book about him. Don't hold ANYTHING back, kids!
Payback's a butch, Chrissey.
JenLArt| 7.26.09 @ 12:21AM
Patriot, no kidding!
Consider this: Christo's only child is an illegitimate son whom "Pup" explicitly cut out of his will (I guess because he disliked the child's mother.)
Poor little tyke!
How can a grandfather disavow his own grandson?
Very cold-hearted, IMO.
Patriot| 7.26.09 @ 3:46AM
So, what's your excuse for 'Pup's' disgusting betrayal of his mother? I'm sure his Mum deserved the public humiliation he dumped on her, too, right?
Chris Buckley is a disgrace to his parents and a poor excuse for a human being. It's not his parents' fault he couldn't keep it in his pants.

I tried to think so, but I found it was not as the same in the actual process. As you mentioned, I still have doubts, but really thank you for sharing!

Correction: Chris Buckley's disgusting betrayal...
I don't even know the man, yet I cannot abide him.

Obviously, the family intelligence skipped a generation. Maybe he's a perfect illustration of the Peter Principle. Next to a description of the principle in a dictionary would be his picture.

Many years ago, when it was still safe to be called a Republican, I got the the impression that Christopher Buckley liked to give the impression that he was kind of like the PJ Woodhouse character Wooster (from the famous Wooster and Jeeves stories). He even wrote a few commentaries about PJ Woodhouse. The son of the famous NR Conservative was suppose to be nothing more than a happy-go-lucky wealthy young guy looking for nothing more than entertainment and lightweight cultural pursuits.
The good times came to an end shortly after his father died, and Christopher threw his towel in with the Radical Community Organizer. As other's have noted, what better way to get cheap publicity for one's books? Katheleen Parker at least has the excuse that she has to make a living in a market that is clearly dieing (Newspapers).
Perhaps Christopher is in need of a real time Jeeves?
Anne| 7.26.09 @ 3:34PM
JenLArt: Correction, Christopher Buckley has a couple of kids other than his illegitimate son.
Patriot| 7.26.09 @ 4:38PM
Yeah, I thought JenLArt was lying. It was a personal matter anyway, Buckley had no right to make it public. Shame on him.
BigSkyBob| 7.26.09 @ 10:50PM
I don't care what any Democrat thinks. What is important is what Republicans think.
Clearly, Buckley Jr is a liberal infiltrator into the conservative intellectual world. He chose to "out" himself in the 2008 Presidential election to help Obama cross the finish line.
Of course, now, he has decided to attempt to re-infiltrate the conservative movement.
How stupid do you think we are?
