Danny,
It isn't nice to speak of the dead. He did begin his career as a very good journalist, but like many of his generation, he allowed the new thing called TV to go to his head. The lowest moment of his career, was the Tet Offsenive in Vietnam. There he was the willing stooge for the NVA. In his and many in the intelligentsia's mind, it was Cronkite's declaration that Vietnam was lost that not only sealed Johnson's future but also Vietnam's. To many in the MSM this was the pinnacle of the power of the Press. In fact, it was the beginning of the end.

Walter Cronkite RIP

jp,
you are right, i may have been a little harsh, but i can never forget or forgive what the media and politicians did concerning vietnam. with the likes of mr. cronkite leading the way.

No - it's just fine to speak ill of this deadbeat.
To hell with Cronkite. I hope he's there for what he did to the policy in the U.S.
He took a tactical victory and claimed it something else.
What a douche - I hope Nimrod doesn't lower him to Cocytus - I hope he slam-dunks him there.

Yes ,Mr Cronkite was a good journalist at first. His TV rating went to his head.He believed himself to be a foreign policy expert. His reporting after the TET offesive when the North Vietnamies actually more or less shot their wad,and we had the war won.Caused us to pull out and the murder of about one million people by the North Vietnamies
and the Viet Cong.Walter will have to answer for what he did.
