The Spectacle Blog

Over at the Washington Times' Water Cooler blog, I note that Judge Sotomayor already has badly contradicted herself by mis-citing her own statement about a belief of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. She should not be able to get away with it.

"should be". Yes, but unfortunately Republican senators have already given up. They are all playing the role of the old Arlen Specter: talk a little tough conservative talk, then cave in and vote like a Democrat.

Before these hearings are over, she'll be quoting Judge Robert Bork and Justice Clarence Thomas, in order to get the SC appointment!!!!!

Oldefarte, you took the words out of my mouth. She will say anything to lay these idiots' minds to rest.

Unless she is shown in tape having sex with underaged farm animals, nothing will change the course that is set.

I do not like her. As a white male, my testicles don't like her either.

Either way, we all lose on this one.

It's like watching a rigged prize fight. Our boys are trying to make it look good before they take a dive.

Sotormayor will be confirmed because the "compassionate conservatism" drivel of George Dumboya Bush and Karl Rove destroyed the Republican Party and left it with 40 seats in the Senate - not enough to filibuster a left-wing radical like Sonya Sotomayor or even Michelle Obama.

"and left it with 40 seats in the Senate"

There won't be 40 Republican votes against Soto. Not even close. THAT is the problem.

On thin ice according to whom? There is no longer a government of, by, and for the people. Now its a frat club with a couple factions that differ very little. Sotomayor could say she stands behind her wise latina remarks because she thinks latinas are wiser than honkies and she would still get 85-95 votes. It doesn't matter anymore. She could say she rules on Ricci the way she did because she hates Whites, and she would get 85-95 votes. She could say of course judges make law, and she would get 85-95 votes.

Ben Franklin said we have a republic if we could keep it. We lost it. Its over.
