Scientists, that is.

A man of faith in a godless age is hitting Americans where it hurts.
Mr. and Mrs. American Spectator Reader, let P.J. O’Rourke talk sense to your kids.
In Britain, defending your property can get you life.
The debacle of this president’s administration is both a cause and a symptom of the decline of American values. Unless Congress impeaches him, that decline will go on unchecked. An eminent jurist surveys the damage and assesses the chances for the recovery of our culture.
It won’t take long for conservatives to scratch this presidential wannabe off their 2008 scorecard.
The American Christmas, like the songs that celebrate it, makes room for everybody under the rainbow. Is that why so many people seem to be hostile to it?
Was the President done in by the economy, or by the politics of the economy?

Why is this a surprise when most Republicans eschew higher education, don't believe in evolution, and think the world is only 6,000 years old? In addition, those of us who use reason over belief are automatically called "RINO'S". Why shouldn't the educated of science be aligned with the educated of media? To go further, your heroes are Rush, Hannity, and Palin -- certainly not the apex of educated individuals.
In addition, you keep on pushing educated people out of the party. Keep it up, Paul....
Real American| 7.9.09 @ 5:04PM
Bob, you're an idiot if you think that about Republicans. You're probably an idiot for a lot of reasons.
Anyway, most scientists are probably Democrats because they work in academia and for non-profits and depend on handouts, largely from government, to fund their research. Maybe they even believe liberal bullshit/propaganda about Republicans being against science, instead of thinking for themselves.
Bob| 7.9.09 @ 5:18PM
Actually, Real, this is a chicken and egg issue. Those who have a scientific interest are attracted to reason, education, and logic. That leads them directly to the Democrat party. By the way, do you believe in evolution and that the world is only 6,000 years old? I'd be willing to bet that more than half of current Republicans believe that to be true. Do you really want to argue that case?
hermit| 7.9.09 @ 6:06PM
Tell me according to the scientific method exactly how does being a liberal skew ones interpretation of data... Seems to explain how by that same scientists method consensus is achieved.
Start with the answer then select data sets to support.. excluding results that do not confirm.
It would be interesting to see how these survey results compare on a time line going back to say the 30s or 40s.
Bob your right buddy we are just all stupid inbred redneck hay seeds. I am surprised that we can even dress ourselves without assistance. Honestly dude we are so fortunate to have the benefit of your enlightenment. Thank you! Thank you, so much God bless you for taking your precious time to try to help us see our stupid and backward way.. .
Seeing how you like this set of Pew survey results so much you may want to look back and see the education and knowledge levels associated with consumers of various media outlets… thought you might find it interesting http://people-press.org/report/?pageid=1068 see “Knowledgeable News Audiences”
Liberal Reader| 7.9.09 @ 6:09PM
Right.
Because when I turn on cable news, all I see are endless hours of programming devoted to science and exploration of nature.
That's right. The capitalist market that creates the media turns all other considerations away in favor of endless discussions of science.
Yep. You make a great point.
Old Texican| 7.9.09 @ 6:29PM
I have been copy/pasting Bob's comments to my documents file for four months or so now.
I go there when I need a belly laugh to sorta' clear out my sinuses.
I have thrown in a couple of Liberal Readers posts just for a little spice.
You guys need to copy me in this to genuinely discover the circular inconsistencies in their nit picking.
Very very funny when you read several of their posts in a row.
Hermit| 7.9.09 @ 6:33PM
oops that should be scientific sorry about that.
Pete| 7.9.09 @ 8:30PM
Bob's gotten more aggressive lately, eh? He used to pretend to be deep thinker rather than insulter...Liberal Reader is the new Bob and Bob is turning into the new DM! Or...more likely they are the same person.
Truth to Power | 7.9.09 @ 11:25PM
Reason and logic will lead you to an obvious conclusion about Bob. Bob is a bad actor who doesn't even put the work into understanding the role he is trying to play. There is probably a single issue like gay marriage that colors all his actions. Don't let him know his tells. I am confident that he is not bright enough to figure them out on him own. At least DM was genuine.
Bob| 7.10.09 @ 8:27AM
Pete, do you really think I'm more aggressive now than in the past? Perhaps you have a comprehension or reading issue? I've always been a proud insulter -- just like most of the bloggers here when talking about Obama. (Hint: that is the reason I do it -- to make you guys look in the mirror).
Hey, Truth -- is this the pot calling the kettle black? Please try to tell me that your issue is not abortion. ROTFL. And when you do post something bright, let me know. You can chew gum and walk at the same time, right?
I do have a big issue, however -- it is to get true fiscal conservatives to realize that social conservatives are ruining the Republican party because they simply lack reason -- as you do.
tonypal| 7.10.09 @ 9:38AM
People, Bob hasn't gotten more aggressive, just funnier. He's now a caricature of the previous Bob, the one who pontificated on all things economic, making sure to remind us how we know-nothings have no right to question his wisdom because he has a degree in economics (or something like that). Now, he's gone one or two steps further, demonstrating his ability to know the inner thoughts of 10's of millions of people.
It seems to me that instead of writing these stories, the staff at TAS should simply submit their story ideas to Bob and ask him to write them. Then, there would be no need for any of us to waste our time posting responses, because once the Mighty Bob has spoken, what else is there to be said?

I find it singularly amusing that you would chest pound about your love of "logic" and "reason" and yet be so blissfully unaware of the blatant logical flaw in this reasoning.
Try googling: "Post Hoc-Ergo-Propter Hoc".
Bob| 7.10.09 @ 11:12AM
Ahh... tonypal the psychologist emerges/pontificates. Where did you get your degree in psychology? There is no reasoning with people like you because you seem to lack the ability to use facts and logic to reason. Instead, you substitute a circular belief system. It is interesting to see someone with an obvious lack of intellectual heft accuse someone else -- who actually makes reason based arguments -- of limited capacity. You are hilarious, tonypal.
Solo -- where is the lack of reasoning in the chicken and egg framework for this argument. Stating something without identifying your argument show the true lack of reasoning ability. Since you don't seem to have the ability to understand the argument, it is that there is a MUTUAL attraction of science and education. Not only do higher education institutions tend to be more liberal, but they also attract people who have that point of view. Thus, the chicken/egg comparison. Now please show me you are not completely devoid of making a strong intellectual argument.
Try Googling: "Reason".

Bob:
Right on cue, as if to prove my point, your insecurities emerge. Your a little man with little in the way of brains, so you attack anyone who doesn't see eye to eye with you. How small of you.
I also got a kick out of how you refer to me as "hilarious." You're so unoriginal and out of your depth when having a back and forth with an adult, you have to paraphrase and mimic what others post.
Again, I think you need to come to grips with your shortcomings, although I must say that will be quite a challenge for someone with so many. As I said, try to spend more time around children. You may not be able to outsmart them, but at least you can be a bully.
Bob| 7.10.09 @ 4:41PM
Again, tonypal, a post devoid of content. At least you are consistent. Tell me what it's like around the nursery as I see no evidence of adult behavior in your posts.
