In another stunning bit of political news, Sarah Palin announced
today that she would resign as governor at the end of the month.
We'll obviously learn more in the coming days and weeks about
what prompted this move, but I don't see how anybody can argue
that this bodes well for her presidential ambitions. At the end
of last year's campaign, the general view was that for her to
reemerge as a serious presidential candidate, she would have to
go back to Alaska, read up on issues, and build up a record of
governing accomplishments. It simply makes no sense that she
would resign from office after less than 3 years if she were
serious about seeking the presidency in 2012. First Huntsman,
then Ensign, then Sanford, and now Palin -- the 2012 GOP field
keeps on getting thiner and thiner. Will anybody be there to
stand in Mitt Romney's way?
Let Romney run -- and get beaten like a gong by Obama, even while
we retake control of Congress. That should finally get rid of the
RINO tendency at Presdiential level that has given us the last 6
useless nominees -- Bush, Bush, Dole, Bush, Bush, McCain -- what
a crowd!
Then Sarah in 2016, via the Senate. Daniels as an emergency 2012
candidate if Obama looks beatable.

Mitt Romney?
Folks, we've known for at least five years now that the Cylons
look like us.
We must remain vigilant.
In my humble (and probably unwelcome opinion), you guys should
run Newt Gingrich.
Newt is your best ideas man. He's articulate. He's an amazingly
accomplished debater. He's conservative. He knows American
history. His politics drive me completely crazy, but I respect
him.

Palin has pulled the plug on her entire political career. This
isn't a loss. It isn't a jump from one lesser uncompleted job to
a new more powerful position. This is an absolute "I QUIT..."
Politics is a brutal business, and one of the most brutal aspects
of it is that tactical and strategic mistakes are rarely rewarded
with further chances.
EVERYONE (Republican every there...) who is elected to a
political office understands this unforgiving fact.
If Sarah Palin intended to run as anything at some time in the
future she would have gutted it out and finished off her final
two years in office. That would have left her ample time to run
for higher office.
This move looks to be for very personal reasons, and I frankly
can't blame her. I take it at face value (which seems to be what
this lady projects.). The personal assaults, going after her
kids, her family, the false ethics charges that are levied to
punish her financially and authoritatively . All of it has taken
its toll and she wants out.
Will she come back? Not for a long time, because living down the
big QUIT, will not be possible in the short or mid term.
Nope.. I see corporate board Sarah, author Sarah, Talk Show Host
on a Fox affiliate Sarah... Perhaps in the expanse of time and a
few terms, Senator Sarah. But President Sarah and the First Dude
aren't going to happen.
The GOP can't take much more of this. The nomination of Mitt
Romney in 2008 is well underway, and it is probably (as has been
said before) going to look a lot like 1996 again.

Why do we need anyone to stand in Romney's way? He is the most
capable successful conservative we have seen in a long time. He
is ready to lead. Why put someone up to stop him and deprive a
nation of a singular leader who can do the job well? I say go
Mitt go!

Romney is a cardboard clown.
