A new Rasmussen poll out this morning shows finds that 45 percent of Americans favor canceling the rest of the stimulus money, compared to just 36 percent who disagree and 20 percent who aren't sure (the question was phrased, "about $36 billion of the approved new government spending has already been spent. Should the rest of the new government spending be cancelled?")

Some other numbers:

--Only 31 peercent of respondents said that government spending creates jobs, compared to 48 percent who think it doesn't.

-- 39 percent said speeding up the deployment of the stimulus money will be good for the economy, compared to 44 percent who say it would be bad.

It's worth putting some degree of caution on these numbers because ever since the stimulus debate started at the beginning of this year, Rasmussen's numbers have tended to show less support for it than has been reflected in other polls. With that said, as I wrote yesterday, I think that there's ample reason to believe the White House is starting to get worried about public skepticism of the administration's signature legislation to date.

The polls on most things they are doing are trending down - why do you think they are in such a hurry to enact their Healthcare and Energy Tax initiatives?

newsflash: americans arent dumb. as dumb as democrats treat them. thats all this shows. big deal. theres a whole lot more dumb things the dems are doing/will do anyone with a brain wants stopped. yep. more than 50% of americans arent idiots - freds poll result, today.

Fred, I RESPECTFULLY have to disagree-----Americans are DUMB [who supported and voted for/elected Obama---Americans]. As to the stimulus, of course it's not working, as it was never designed to improve the economy. The stimulus was simply a huge governmental welfare package to provide to Obama's indigent/povertous constituents and the labor unions. Are out of work executives, college graduates, financial professionals, etc going to want to pick up a shovel and perform road construction work? Of course not! When will American voters wake up! Obama masqueraded himslef as a middle-road candidate to brainwash [courtesy of the MSM] voters that were disgusted with the war and had guilty consciences over slavery, into voting for him. Now he is free to ram down America's throat his extremely liberal Chicago mobster political agenda for four more years. Nobody can stop him, thanks to the the 'dumb' Americans who elected him. Does he care what voters think now----of course not! If the remainder of the stimulus money is returned to the Treasury, Obama will just find another welfare governmental program or two to bless his adoring constituents with. He/they can only be stopped starting in the upcoming elections, by voting for conservative candidates who will eventually right America's currently sinking ship; and NOT until then. It's amazing that he's using the bailout money [which was intended for the rescue of FINANCIAL firms/banks ONLY] to pour money down the car manufacturing rathole, simply due to his desire to take care of the UAW [GM's and Chrysler's former stockholders/owners now have lost their entire stock investments]. Car dealerships are being closed on a political partisan basis [depending on whether they voted for Obama and Democrats] as political payback; and were not even consulted by Obama/Democrats in this domestic car manufacturing meltdown process. This is LaCostraNostra politics, folks----WAKE UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oldefarte - solid and accurate rant there. This is serious sh**.

Charlene| 6.10.09 @ 5:07PM

Oldefarte: Serious question. If Americans are dumb now and voted in Obama, what makes you think they will stop being dumb in time to vote him out in the next election?

Tim| 6.10.09 @ 6:04PM

Poll: 45 percent of Americans pissed off at the other 55 percent.
Respondents describe neighbors as clueless, retarded.

Here's an interesting tidbit:

In his 8 years as President, George W. Bush saved or created 135.5 million jobs.

In his less than 5 months as President, Obama has LOST 2.6 million jobs.

How's that Hope & Change thing workin' for ya?

Marcell| 6.10.09 @ 6:15PM

Wow!! You conservatives are cracking me up. The Republican response to Bush's recession was to do nothing; if we would have done nothing, the unemployment rate would be higher today, The Dow Jones would be lower & you would be complaining about that as well.

Marcell, your Insane Asylum is looking for you.
