Obama: Winning Personality, Losing Policies?

President Barack Obama continues to win a high personal approval rating, but his policy initiatives aren't doing so well.  His rating on controlling federal spending is down.  Reports Gallup:

While 67% of Americans view President Barack Obama favorably, his overall job approval rating and his ratings on specific areas are less positive. At the low end of the spectrum, only 45% of Americans approve of Obama's handling of federal spending, and 46% of his handling of the federal budget deficit.

That's still too high.  After all, he is dedicated to dramatically hiking federal outlays, not reducing them.  Nevertheless, there is hope that people increasingly will watch what the man behind the curtain is actually doing.  Then it will be up to the Republican Party to provide a credible alternative.

It's hard to contemplate I know, but most Presidents start out popular and slump over time. Obama has had the most adulation since at least Jimmy Carter. let's check back in two years and see how his crappy policies affect his blooming radiance.
He is aware of this: it's why they are forcing things like healthcare right away. Once he drops below 50% the radical agenda is over.
It's why Hillary works for him, there will be no Ted kennedy like insurrection in 2012.

"Then it will be up to the Republican Party to provide a credible alternative."

There is the fatal flaw. The "Republicans" credibility to Conservatives is rightly so, at an all time low, and possibly just lower than a blue dog Democrat!
The Republican party has been trying to run at the middle and pander to the Conservatives, (See John McCain), and look what we get!
The Republican party needs to run candidates from the Conservative base and not pander!! But they have chased so many of them from "The Big Tent" at the beck and call of the MSM, that I don't believe that a true Conservative could trust the Republican Party!!
So the Republican Party can only continue as Democrat Lite, and fail!

Inflation is now on everyone's mind. It isn't necessairly the defecits that are driving up inflation; it is the combination of th Treausury printing up $2 trillion since January and 0% interest rates of the Fed that is causing the dollar to fall. The huge increase in defecit spending the last 6 months is causing the 10 year Treas Note to approach 4%; thus, making it more expensive for the Fed to borrow.

In only a month the price of crude has jumped nearly $20 a barrel and refined gas is up to almost $3 a gallon. Some analysts and speculators are saying this is a sure sign that the recovery is underway. This is just pure happy talk, as invetories of both refined and unrefined oil remain pretty high. Speculators are talking the price up in hopes of making back some of the big losses they suffered last year. In the mean time, real estate nationwide continues to fall in price, and unemployment continues to creep towards 12%.

In the mean time, both the Obama Administration and Wall St are hoping that the stimulus and near 0 % interest rates will somehow lead to a rebound. The Dow has recovered most of its earlier losses. But, one wonders if this is just a sucker's rally, as very few indicators point towards a recovery later this year. This could very well be a jobless recovery, as commodities infaltion could force Bernecke to raise interest rates significantly. Once this happens institutional investors will begin selling off again. We could very well see a similar replay of last year's sell-off (followed by plunging oil prices), but at a smaller level.

In the end, Obama will have to raise taxes at some point, or make radical cuts in domestic spending. I can't see him doing the later.

Like his mom said: just hold your nose and vote for McCain. Face it: we had two Democrats (their mascot rightly so: a Jackass) in contention. We had to pick the least dangerous of the two: not Obama who cannot even prove he is a US citizen!
Right now we are in trouble. B Hussein Obama (possibly Barry Soretoro) may have inherited a bad decision by W (the first bailout) but he has made it worse and now we have what the Dems have wanted in the last 10 years: THE WORST ECONOMY SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION.
If you remember correctly this is what Pelosi and Reid have said for the last 8 years of Bush.
Obama has spent more in 110 days than W in the last two + years. Millions to Billions to Trillions. Look out for HYPER inflation coming to a soup kitchen near you!
A Democrat is a Democrat.... gay marriage,;legislation in congress now to excuse pedophiles; Partial Birth Abortions (which in Illinois BHO defended again and again: evil); anti free speech by a commission of Left wing radicals and Dems to determine who can and cannot own a radio/tv station,;anti gun legislation (Sotomayor and HR45 Blair Holt's Firearm legislation; nationalization of the banks, auto industry and trying health care... Who wants ANY Democrat in office or in control?
Middle of the road, centrists, moderates are just people who cannot make up their OWN mind.

The political problem is that the typical voter seeks mesmerization by candidates. They want to be BS'd, snowed, brainwashed! Who were our most popular political leaders-----Roosevelt, Kennedy and Clinton. What do these presidents have in common? You guessed it----the art of BS! Competentcy in political leaders is disguised by percieved lack of carisma. Typical voters want President Brad Pitt and first lady, Angelena Jolie; even though they would make extremely incompetent political leaders. As a conservative, Reagan had carisma, but he's more described as a great leader [his leadership skills may or may not be above average in comparison to others]. We need in this country a strong conservative that can somehow demonstrate a carismatic personality and thereby convince the typical voter that his/her policies will work for the betterment of this nation. One such politician who comes to mind is Mississippi's current governor, Haley Barbour; and I'd love to see him run for president in 2012!!!!!

Maybe we have an agenda here:
Since the time of Jimmy-the first worst president- Carter we have had each administration trying the open border thing. We have the NAFTA superhighway from South America to Canada. Making sure that the dollar fails brings in the UN sponsored New World Order with International Currency.
Maybe with B. Hussein Obama as International President??

Last year, when I heard that Obama supported infanticide, he became ugly to me. I don't like him personally--at all.

Funny that Bandow would hope for a comeback for Republicans and a strengthening of the Party in order to challenge Obama's socialist policies, seeing that Bandow himself was one of the most brutal, ascerbic and cynical opponents of the GOP these past few years.

Leftwing Libertarians like Bandown are partly responsible for the creation of Obama. By they're merciless assaults on President Bush and GOP figures like Sarah Palin, calling them "warmongers," and "big spenders," they created this Communist monster BHO.

Bandow is now hoping that some of us on the Right will forget his past disloyalties.

Ain't gonna happen.

The lightning speed of the change of the Obama adiministration is truly frightening. Only if the public comes to its common senses soon can we even have a hope for a country as we have know.

The Obama adiministration is very troublesome. In particular Sec of Agriculture. I had the misfortune of a civil lawsauit with a longtime friend of then sitting Governor Vilsack. Ethics and transparency should be questioned at evey turn.
