Married...Without Children

In a web piece published today, Jim Antle looks at the direction the gay marriage debate is taking. What's at stake? Thomas Peters finds two clear examples of gay marriage infringing on religious liberty -- one in the UK, and one in San Francisco. Whatever your thoughts on the issue, the inevitable collision between legalized gay marriage and religious freedom must be taken into consideration. In both cases that Peters catalogues, the tension is between Catholic adoption services, who refuse to allow gay couples to adopt their charges, and state anti-discrimination laws, which require that they must. This has already played out in Massachusetts, where the Catholic Relief Services responded by ending their adoption services instead of compromising their principles.

Religion always loses in this debate. Not only adoption, but churches that don't marry gays will be next.

And once again, for the children, really means it is for the children to shoulder the whims of adults. The kids pay and pay for the adult self centerness, not only with their future money, but with their young lives.

Heh..."Religion" has certainly NOT lost the debate in the Muslim world. Heh!

SOME churches will marry gay people...SOME won't. Folks may vote with their "feet."

Good post, Becky.

Abortion makes the young pay the ULTIMATE price for the whims of adults.

One dead, one wounded.

Will some passages in the Bible be considered hate speech? Will we watch as our priests and ministers are marched off to jail for preaching from the pulpit?

Why do liberals always have to go all totalitarian on us?

Guess they're not so 'tolerant' after all.

danny| 6.5.09 @ 12:08PM

guess you're right ruth. they are not at all tolerant. my fear is we ain't seen nothing yet.

ruth| 6.5.09 @ 12:36PM

Don't be afraid, Danny. I know we can prevail. Someone will stand up---someone always does.

Too many good people have fought and died for our freedom for us to just give it away.

I have faith in us as a people.

I don't understand why any gay man would WANT to get married. And as for lesbians, all this gay marriage stuff is is another reason for them to act put-upon and victimized and feel sorry for themselves.

It's not about marriage, it's about society's acceptance of the gay lifestyle.
