Yeah, What Jim said

I wish to associate myself, if he doesn't mind, with what James has written in his running debate with the always-thoughtful Daniel Larison. In this case, it takes a really bizarre reading of Sotomayor's whole speech, and indeed whole record, to conclude (as Larison did) that her racialism is benign or in the least bit defensible. James handled the argument brilliantly throughout (including in his earlier posts), so I merely say "Ditto to that."

Quin Hillyer gave me a real WTF moment. He writes about "racialism." Interesting. Let's talk about "racialism." Shall we begin with Lee Atwater counseling Republicans to use code phrases such as "forced busing" and "states rights" instead of using the "n-word" which could cause problems? How about Nixon's "southern strategy?" It doesn't take a genius to figure out what was happening there. LBJ predicted it when he signed the Civil Rights legislation. Oh, and what about Reagan beginning his 1980 campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Subtle. The right tags Sotomayor as racist. Want to know the deepest, darkest secrets of wingnuts? Look at what they accuse liberals of being.
