California voters yesterday flipped their political class a well deserved bird, rejecting several ballot initiatives that would have increased their taxing and borrowing power -- with the possible exception of a measure that would keep legislators from getting pay raises while the state is running a deficit. But the politicians weren't the only establishment hands on the receiving end of this obscene gesture. Over at Reason, Matt Welch takes a look at how the state's newspaper editorial boards stacked up against the will of the people. You can see (complete with a handy-dandy chart) the answer is: not very well.

The San Diego Union Tribue and the heroic Orange County Register were the only major newspapers in the entire state too editorially oppose all the government goodie-grabs on the ballot box. And people wonder why newspapers are going out of business?

The defeat of these tax increases is a rejection of Obama's toxic mortgaging of America's future with his multi-trillion dollar budget deficits.

Don't forget: the tea parties are just in "steeping" mode right now ...

Doesn't matter, the Obomination is going to bail out the newspapers, and bail out the states whose Electoral College votes the Democrats can't exist without.

Being right, being wrong, ------------ it's all so passe anymore.

The Left has got a political and cultural power that allows them just to ram it all down our throats.

It's like they hate us, hate America, hate wealth creation, hate opportunity, hate people moving into the Middle class, hate people that move beyond that to the upper middle class.

They just hate us.

And now they're trying to destroy us.

And I fear they'll succeed.

I live in Orange County and subscribe to the OC Register, just because it is such an heroic newspaper. There are few like it left in this country. Oh, and Sacramento received my "bird" too. Natch.

This State is insane. It went ahead in April with new clean air regulations that shut down a bunch of local gas stations.
