John McCain advises Republicans to be "inclusive" without betraying "fundamental principles." Of course, exactly how to do that is precisely what is at issue. He then allows, "Maybe I didn't do a good enough job communicating with the American people."

Maybe not. I'm willing to bet that a Republican candidate who supported abortion and same-sex marriage but was as inept economically as the party's 2008 standardbearer would have done at least as badly -- probably worse. Even if the candidate was as hip as, say, Meghan McCain.

"Maybe I didn't do a good enough job communicating with the American people."

No, you didn't do a good enough job of actually being a Republican, or at least being what a Republican is supposed to be.

But ya know- if social conservatives spent as much time and effort seeking to limit/end elective abortions, seeking to save healthy, innocent lives, as they do seeking to keep consenting adults from establishing consensual relationships as they best see fit, we'd be a far more pro-life, moral- and liberty loving- nation. Priorities, anyone?

As a married- straight!- woman, nevertheless I've never understood the obsession of some social conservatives with homosexuality.

Maybe the Senator needs to define what his idea of fundamental principals are. My idea of inclusive is, I'm sure different than his. It has become obvious that Mr McCain is really in a whole other party. The ballot in 2012 will need to have Republican, Democrat and McLiebSpectarian. Redefine, communicate and include all you want.

KC said, "But ya know- if social conservatives spent as much time and effort seeking to limit/end elective abortions, seeking to save healthy, innocent lives..."

Who are you to say they don't? Because it is of my firm understanding that they do. When you make broad statements that are obviously a misguided opinion not based on facts, I am sorry, but it is hard to take you seriously.

At least their community organizations (that do more good than I believe you might in a lifetime) are not dripping with party partisianship and greed. Not to mention some serious corruption practices on almost a global level. acorn...

What is really sad is that acorn is unappoligetically using the poor and the disinfranchised to get rich and stay rich, and they barely give a dime to actually help the minorities and less priviledged. Then when it all goes down, and the corruption is exposed, those minorities and underpaid workers will be thrown to the wolves by acorn and then the poor and disinfrancised will crucified like a sacrificial lamb.

It is already happening today. Nevada acorn fraud news continues while the head of acorn continues to blame those bad apples as criminals that work for acorn. HELLO! Wake up PEOPLE!

When will the poor and disinfranchised people see they are being used to do acorn's dirty work? When will these people realize they are being used to break the law to ensure that the elitists can keep getting their money and keep getting elected? When will these people realize those very elitists are the ones ruining their own future and hope, while dooming them to poverty indefinately? When will these people realize the poop is about to hit the fan, and even though they might not have caused it, they will be blamed for it? When they realize that President Obama has been a very poor example to be cast on the good and hardworking African Americans of this country?

The number of people that are angry with our president is growing daily, and (contrary to janine garafalo's opinion) it is NOT because he is black! It is because he has been a very ineffective leader thus far. Unfortunately, those feelings will spark some frustration and anger back onto the black community. Again, NOT because they are black, but because obama has done so much to damage our country already, and it has not even been one year. I feel for the good hardworking African American people that will be hurt in obama's wake.
