With today's news that unemployment in April rose to 8.9 percent, it's worth reiterating that Obama's deficit forecast for 2009 is based on the assumption that unemployment would average 8.1 percent this year. And it's worth keeping in mind that even under that rosy scenario, we're still looking at a $1.75 trillion deficit in 2009, according to Obama's own projections.

That's o.k. According to The Teleprompter of The United States of America, the almighty branch of Big Brother will confiscate more of productive society's wealth and apply it to higher education for the unemployed. Waiting for the exact figures........

It is breaking my heart to watch this mad dash toward socialism (fascism, communism). It seems to have happened so quickly. The Beltway elites scoff at us and advance their agenda regardless of what We The People think.

It's very disheartening.

Keep the Whitehouse e-mails, phone calls & faxes going non-stop & he'll get the idea, he's a spineless flipflopper when everyone lets him know what they think..

Pretty lonely here -

But what if "despite Obama programs" or worse because of them, we recover as a nation-

What then indeed !

Shrinking:

I'm sure someone thought the exact same thing as Jimmy Carter imploded the economy in the late 70's.

Stan Redmond| 5.8.09 @ 7:10PM

Shrinking,

Of course Obama and the democrats will claim all the credit. While I don't care who claims credit (even though it's private citizens and corporations that make the economy) because it is good for America. the only dangerous side IF the dems are in power when things rebound, is that people ignorant of economics (schools ain't teachin' that no more) will believe only the government can run the economy.

i'm waiting for the Obama spinmeisters to claim "Obama's policies employed 91.1% of Americans"

Unemployment still rose to nearly 9% even though the Federal Government hired 66,000 part-time (ACORN) workers during April.

The L.A. Slimes says that 8.9% unemployment is actually good news.

Well then, The L.A. Slimes should be ecstatic this summer when unemployment hits 10%!!
