Of a subcommittee, anyway.  Reports Newsmax:

Senate Democrats gave party switcher Arlen Specter a plum Judiciary subcommittee chairmanship on Thursday as a potential primary challenger to the veteran Pennsylvania lawmaker stepped forward.

Majority Whip Dick Durbin of Illinois said he would give up his chairmanship of the Crime and Drugs subcommittee in exchange for becoming chairman of a panel on human rights. The move, he said, would "best utilize Senator Specter's talents and experience in our caucus."

The move came as Rep. Joe Sestak, D-Pa., a former Navy vice admiral, said he's seriously considering challenging Specter in the Pennsylvania primary next year.

"The Democratic political establishment reached into the GOP establishment to give us the Democratic candidate for the future. I don't think we want to re-establish the establishment," Sestak said in an interview with The Associated Press.

"It's not theirs to make, it's ours to make. That's really what moved me. It's the ideal. It's not what we came to Washington to do is tell Pennsylvanians what they are to do in their Democratic choices."

Too bad, though, about that bit on a potential primary challenge.  So much for the party clearing the field!

The move, he said, would "best utilize Senator Specter's talents and..."

Would lust for power be considered a "talent"?

Lawyers in government mirror what their Esquire brethren… gangsters with law degrees, do each and every day in WE THE PEOPLE’s Courts, in WE THE PEOPLE’s Government Agencies and in WE THE PEOPLE’s U.S. Congress…

Pontification and condescension; elitism and arrogance; unprofessional name calling and labeling; besmirching, intimidation and insidious personal destruction; fabrication, lying and extortion; collusion and coercion; over-talk and double-talk; expediency, appeasement and placating; duplicity, deceit and deception.

Then, at the end of the day, these fork-tongue degenerates meet at the Good-Old-Boy Esquire’s watering hole to back-slap, glad-hand and congratulate each other on which one had likely proven the degree of corruption necessary to continue the destruction of WE THE PEOPLE’s Constitution, WE THE PEOPLE’s magnificent Country and finally, WE THE PEOPLE.

Can you say… Conyers, Specter, Reid, Kerrey, Stabenow, Dodd, Harkin, Durbin, Leahy, Schumer and how could we ever forget, Kennedy, to mention a few. There are many more on both sides of the aisle.

With very few exceptions, these leftist lawyers turned career-politicians and their career-bureaucrats have become despotic, partisan hacks and tyrants who now believe they are a law unto themselves, cynically living in the world of realpolitik where what matters is to prevail, regardless of their constituent’s best interests, their sworn duties to the Constitution and to our magnificent Country.

Eliminate the Washington DC snake-pit of entrenched appeasing, expediency, placating and crab-walking despots by voting these delusional, parasitic, megalomaniac realpolitiks out of government… they are not worthy to represent WE THE PEOPLE of this magnificent Country.

Reject all career-politicians running for re-election… they speak with ulterior motives, hidden agendas, deceit, duplicity and deception… they have become corrupt and no longer qualified for Leadership or Statesmanship. They are, in fact, a scourge upon the land.

Require your State’s Elected Representatives to convene a Constitutional Convention for the sole purpose of modifying in pertinent part, Amendment XVII to read, “Representatives and Senators of the U.S. Congress, elected by the people thereof, for two years and six years respectively for a maximum of two terms…”

Then, recruit and elect true representatives of WE THE PEOPLE… Citizen Professionals who have demonstrated excellence in management, performance, integrity, patriotism, pride and optimism, chivalry and civility for a maximum of two terms to re-establish the public service model of our Founding Fathers… Leadership, Statesmanship, Dignity, Honor and Duty.

An 11-5 team couldwow gold miss the playoffs It's wow goldobvious that the growing gulfwow gold between the NFL's haves and have-nots will result in some supposedly "good"wow gold teams not going to the playoffs. wow goldIn the NFC, where 9-7 wow gold and sometimes 8-8 wow goldis enough for a spot in the six-team tournament, 10-6 might not do it this year.In the AFC, which has wow goldseen several teams win 10 wow goldbut stay home for the postseason (most recently, the 2007 Browns), an eleven-win team could get shut out this year. If the 9- Jetswow gold and 9-5 Dolphins win next Sunday, the winner of their Week 17 game will capture the AFC East, even if New England wins itswow gold last two games. This will thrust the Pats into the wild-card pool.

Yeah, what rdman said!

I think Pennsylvanians are going to give Specter some "Book of Revelations" treatment in 2010.

"For I know your deeds, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were either cold or hot. Therefore, because you are neither, I will spew you out of my mouth" (Rev. 3:15-16)

Whether Pennsylvanians want Sestak or Toomey I don't know, but I'm almost certain they don't want somebody to split the difference between the two, especially not if that person is both pro-abortion and anti-union.

For the last week or so I couldn't understand why the DNC or Democratic Senate Caucus would allow Specter to join them just for a lousy vote. I understand the desire to get to 60, but Specter's chances of beating Toomey are 50/50 -even in a general election.

Now the answer is more clear. They have no desire of allowing Specter to run in 2010. The DNC ,I believe has no intention of backing Specter.

So, the knife Specter put in the GOP's back will find its way to his own. I'm sure at this point Snarlin' Arlene must realize that he is being played. Should make an interesting 12 months. Arlene can get rather nasty when he is mad.
