"Obama is No Reagan"

That's not me, but Reuters, which recounts:

TEL AVIV (Reuters) - When he first got word of Israel's sneak attack on the Iraqi atomic reactor in 1981, U.S. President Ronald Reagan privately shrugged it off, telling his national security adviser: "Boys will be boys!"

Would Reagan have gone into Iraq?

It makes one wonder how the closet anti Semite Obama would react to hearing that the Israelis bombed Iran's nuke sites. I doubt he'd be so non plussed. Hell, he'd probably be the first to, "condemn, in the strongest possible terms, this unprovoked assault on the peaceful nuke program of the peaceful government of Iran, who never meant Israel any harm." Or words to that effect. Then we could also count on his (Obama's) UN stooge calling for sanctions against Israel for acting pro actively in their self defense, & doing us a favor in the meantime. Thankfully, we don't have to worry about BiBi knuckling under to this neophyte boob we have in the White House. When the bets are called in, one can always count on Israel to do what is necessary, as was the case with air raid on Osirak.

NavyBrat, He would poop his pampers and then go to the UN for a sternly worded reprimand.

Bob- I think Reagan would have targeted S.H. in Iraq ala Gaddafi in Libya. With the exception of having stealth fighters and no tip off from someone such as the Malta PM. Reagan certainly would not have made excuses such as WMDs. The only reason needed was S.H.s non-compliance with the rules of the sandbox.

Reagan would have never gone into Iraq, what would have been the need? Without us creating a quagmire the U.N. would have stepped in and created the quagmire for years to come!

Aaron -- I agree. But the larger point is that now that we are in Iraq, it changes the way you deal with Iran. Therefore, the comparison is flawed.
