Maine today
approved same-sex marriage by an act of the legislature. Gov.
John Baldacci campaign as an opponent of redefining marriage but
signed the bill. The D.C. city council voted for same-sex
marriage yesterday, with Marion Barry casting the only dissenting
vote. The goal of same-sex marriage supporters is to have it
recognized in all six New England states by 2012. They're right
on schedule, and so is a red-blue divide on marriage.
