If the House Democrats actually impeach, it will set a very interesting game in play. Does Obama have any sway over the left-most radicals in Congress or not? As we know from the Clinton impeachment, the Senate, as an institution, has no qualms whatsoever about shirking its duty to try impeachment cases. If Obama doesn't want it to happen, and if he has sufficient clout, it won't happen. Indeed, the impeachment wouldn't happen to begin with. But note that there are two "ifs" in that premise. Obama can protest that he didn't call for this, while Emmanuel or another minion whispers to the Democrat lapdogs in the Senate, which will soon include Specter, that there will be no repercussions from the White House if they go forward.
Only one thing is certain. Judge Bybee will not enjoy being the football in this game.
