A Daring Evaluation

It’s everyone’s 100-day marker for the presidency and the CNN Sucks homepage is promoting this bold conclusion from historian Julian E. Zelizer: “Give him an incomplete.”

Huh?

I quote Zelizer here:

"Compared with FDR in his first 100 days,
Obama has been restrained in his proposals"

Really? Restrained? Maybe on some other planet throwing $12 Trillion down a rat hole is considered restrained. Here in the heartland, that is called wasteful, imprudent, and is cause for terrific alarm and disgust.

Then again, $12 trillion is only $42,000 per person, so why worry?

Maybe we need a new hit movie: "How I stopped worrying about grossly irrational spending and learned to love national insolvency"

JJC --

That money is GOING to the heartland, and I doubt it'll be considered wasted when it does.

Two weeks ago the governor of Texas threatened to secede from the Union. Now he's begging for federal support in fighting the influenza outbreak.

Come on, GOP. Admit it. You like big government when it suits you.

TP:

Horse waste.

jim rice| 4.27.09 @ 3:46PM

I give him a B.

and I wish Texas would secede.
What's the last good thing to come from there that wasn't The Toadies? Roy Orbison? :)

Tom Paine| 4.27.09 @ 4:01PM

Remember: of the ten donor states (states that pay more to the federal government than they receive back) EIGHT are blue states.

The people in the donor states support red America -- including the People's Republic of Alaska, which receives the most federal dollars per capita.

(To be fair, Texas is one of the two red donor states. They receive back .94 on the dollar.)

Jim --

If ALL Texas had EVER contributed was Roy Orbison, I'd say they'd be worth keeping around.

Without Texas...get a bicycle....and a candle. (smile)...then freeze in the dark.

jim rice,

"What's the last good thing to come from there that wasn't The Toadies?"

Every single brand new enlisted American Airman. Thank one for protecting your right to free speech the next time you see one.

Jim Rice. How could you forget Stevie Ray Vaughan & ZZ Top? As for you, T. Paine, clean out the ear wax, bro. He didn't say he wanted to secede. He said he understood why people feel that way & that he's glad that option is afforded by the constitution of his state & backed up by the 10th Amendment. He never said, "I wanna secede."
