Socialist Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Illinois) yesterday
denounced the tea party protests on Tax Day, alleging a
vast right-wing conspiracy organized them to protest Leviathan’s
juggernaut.
“The ‘tea parties’ being held today by groups of right-wing
activists, and fueled by FOX News Channel, are an effort to
mislead the public about the Obama economic plan that cuts taxes
for 95 percent of Americans and creates 3.5 million jobs,” said
Schakowsky, a card-carrying member of the socialist Congressional
Progressive Caucus.
“It’s despicable that right-wing Republicans would attempt to
cheapen a significant, honorable moment of American history with
a shameful political stunt. Not a single American household or
business will be taxed at a higher rate this year. Made to look
like a grassroots uprising, this is an Obama bashing party
promoted by corporate interests, as well as Republican lobbyists
and politicians.”
To describe Schakowsky, who no doubt would approve of the
infamous Department of Homeland Security document that
labeled the nation’s conservatives and libertarians as dangerous
potential terrorists,
as a kook would be an insult to kooks of goodwill everywhere.

What about being taxed year????????
Die Reckte Ecke| 4.16.09 @ 10:43PM
I so hate living here in Illinois.
Obama's from here.
Blago's from here.
Jesse Jackson's from here.
Louis Farrakahn's from here.
Ayers is here (and his squaldrina of a wife)
Rev Wright's from here.
Rhama-lama ding dang dong Emanuel is from here.
And now this lady.
Jeezus.
We need to tax-party her sorry ass and see how she likes it!!!!
Aaron| 4.16.09 @ 11:08PM
Die Reckte Ecke,
You forgot a few:
Saul Alinsky
The Daleys
Harrison Ford
Ophra
Hillary Clinton
and Chaka Khan
I didn't know Jeezus was from there though...
Aaron| 4.16.09 @ 11:15PM
OH, and Bozo the Clown. That is enough for anyone to want to move. Straight up Marxist, that little bucket and ball game says it all. I think he is/was Emanuel's daddy. Poor child had issues that are bubbling to the surface. Clown-daddy rage.
WendyG| 4.16.09 @ 11:27PM
Lefties are filled with rage. Even when they win. Perpetually PO'd.
RM| 4.16.09 @ 11:47PM
WendyG - they will be filled with faux "rage" until we all shut up. And the more we speak, the more violent they are going to get. And if we defend ourselves physically, their "suspicions" will be confirmed - just a bunch of right wing extremists goin' "radical."
You can see it already happening. Tancredo at NC, the journo guy at USC, the report I read of that strange pastor getting the crap beaten out of him by the border patrol (don't know if that was real or staged, quite honestly), and the way the "press" acted in reporting on the Tea Parties.
Frankly, they seem quite deranged, and it is getting scary. They won, but they were deranged during the Bush years, and all that hatred is now focused on us.
And it is our own government fomenting it.
I feel like that frog in a warm pot - there's just no place to jump to.
I think they are going to win. . .
Within a year or two it will probably be illegal to criticize the government ("hate speach," doncha know.) The Supremes will have added one or two radicals, and those laws will be upheld (using international law standards, of course.)
Same with disarming everyone.
Look at Great Britain if you want to see our near future.
Julia| 4.17.09 @ 12:15AM
Well, as long as we keep whining and wetting ourselves over the BIG BAD liberals, they'll win. Geez Louise--stand up and grow a pair.
whiterb| 4.17.09 @ 7:06AM
The question is are we the opposition, the dissenters of every stripe truly ready for the battle ahead ? What are we ready to give up ? Will we accept allies who disagree with some conservative principles to join our ranks ? We'd better learn to expand our base. The Army of the left is huge, mighty, and violent. We need strategy and tactics that hurt them. Economic sanctions and boycotts will really kick them where it hurts. Look how Spain reversed itself. They knew they'd pay a price-$$$$$$ if they went after Americans in some crazy world court. Use your dollar power to cripple the left. Hurt the media conglomerates in particular this way.

Bob| 4.17.09 @ 8:06AM
Vadum -- throwing out ad hominem attacks again? Isn't it time to start using facts? First of all, "right wing extremists" are people like Neo-Nazi's and racists, not "conservatives". Conservatives were not referenced in the documents. Secondly, these same types of warnings were issued for left-wing extremists earlier.
http://www.poligazette.com/2009/04/15/us-department-of-homeland-security-issued-report-on-leftwing-extremists-in-january/
It seems, Vadum, that you are not interested in facts and reason. Please try doing some research before you throw bombs.
Big J| 4.17.09 @ 8:54AM
Sounds like another community organizer gone politician in Illinois. I see a pattern here. Does any politician from the great state of Illinois have any experience other than muck-raking and / or rabble-rousing?
whiterb: I am ready. I see many, many others that are as well. At the moment, we are trying desperately to resolve the issues peacefully - at the moment. I don't know how long that will last, but I suspect our freedom can be defended at the ballot box, not the battlefield. If that is not the case, I will proudly stand by your side.
Bob: I am not sure exactly what your point is. Probably lack of education, but I actually read the article and followed the links. Vadum did cite facts, and this woman is a KOOK. I didn't see any "bombs" as you call them.
By the way, I didn't see any "neo-nazis" or racists at the rallies. Did you? Nevermind, you probably weren't there. Hopefully you did not rely on the MSM coverage for your information. It was lacking, to say the least.
Bob| 4.17.09 @ 9:03AM
Big J -- when you call someone a "socialist", it is an ad hominem attack and is throwing a "bomb" -- that's why Vadum does it. He also leaves the impression the attack by Homeland security was only against the right, which is not true. As for the lady, I'd agree she is a left wing nut job just like Michele Bachman is a right wing nut job. However, that doesn't mean that Republicans can't be better.
Certainly no one is going to wear swastikas at rallies like this, but the anti-Obama vitriol was more than just political. I also didn't see any blacks or Hispanics at those rallies. I do consider those Obama/Hitler signs racist, by the way -- and there were lots of them.
Sheryl| 4.17.09 @ 10:04AM
Great title for a book--"What is the Matter With Illinois?"
And, Bob, who cares what you "consider" anyone's signs to be? You seem to be determined to make every issue a racial one, and so you will continue to find "racism" everywhere. Nothing new or noteworthy there.
DougN| 4.17.09 @ 10:09AM
Bob, I have heard about the Obama/Hitler signs, but I didn't see any. What was it about the signs themselves that made you consider them "racist"? Was there something about the presentation, perhaps an unflattering caricature of Obama?
tonypal| 4.17.09 @ 10:11AM
Bob:
So you don't thing she's a socialist, huh? Here's something for you to mull over:
"I don't think I can be defined as too far left in a district like this," says Schakowsky, who once told a writer for the local Democratic Socialists of America (DSA): "The American people are not ideological; therefore, the way to go is to attack private power." Schakowsky once received an award from DSA, which is the chief American arm of the Socialist International.
Schakowsky is in bed with all sorts of lovely people, such as Medea Benjamin, a long time and will known communist. She also signed onto a letter back in 2002, written to then Sec. of State Colin Powell, alleging human rights abuses by the Colombian government against FARC. I know you know what FARC is and you probably also know that they are backed by moderates the likes of Castro and Chavez.
She is also a member in good standing of the congressional Progressive Caucus, which consists of the most ardent left wingers in the congress. They are committed to the concept of wealth redistribution, government control of private institutions and all the other things that one would normally associate with statists, or socialists.
The term socialist is entirely appropriate here. Unfortunately for you Bob, as a self-described economics and statistics expert, there really isn't any sort of handy chart for you to use, so you're going to have to make the argument on your own this time.
tonypal| 4.17.09 @ 10:18AM
Bob:
One last thing. It's always funny to hear people tell us how they searched a crowd and couldn't find people of color. Why the obsession with race Bob?
Are you saying that lack of people of color is proof of racism? That seems like awfully weak reasoning for a man dedicated to intellectual pursuits such as yourself. However, if that's the case, wouldn't it follow that since blacks voted uniformly for the black candidate in the last election, your logic would require us to label all blacks as anti-white. Maybe just the one's who voted.
Just trying to get a handle on this Bob, because I'm unaware of a single spoken word or sign at these rallies that indicated any sort of anger over the color of Obama's skin. Seems to me that you're the one with the problem as it relates to race and racial matters.
Matthew Vadum | 4.17.09 @ 10:25AM
The condescending troll, Bob, falsely accuses me of brandishing ad hominems. He knows as well as I do that the Congressional Progressive Caucus is by definition socialist. See CPC profile at
http://www.capitalresearch.org/pubs/pubs.html?id=577 and
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6497.
One of its most prominent members, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) describes himself as a socialist, or more precisely, as a democratic socialist. Another prominent member is socialist traitor Barbara Lee (D-California) who collaborated with America's communist enemies. The list goes on and on.
The CPC's manifesto is here: http://cpc.grijalva.house.gov/index.cfm?SectionID=5&ParentID=0&SectionTypeID=2&SectionTree=5.
Very sloppy, tiresome trolling, Bob.
Whatever they're paying you it's way too much.
All the best.
Big J| 4.17.09 @ 11:43AM
Bravo, Sheryl + Tonypal. Sometimes Bob's just a little too smart for his own good. Still, I don't think he even went to a protest. I am convinced he relied on MSNBC (blathering on and on about teabagging - what a bunch of juveniles) or CNN. Judging by the absolute melt-down by ms. rosegen, even Bob would have to "suspend disbelief" (to quote former Senator Clinton) in order to take CNN seriously.
Mr. Vadan: Nice to see you monitoring the comments section (as others do) and standing up for the truth in your article. Your address to Bob will fall on deaf ears, but most of the rest of us are listening.
Bob| 4.17.09 @ 2:06PM
The bomb throwing right wing extremist, Matthew Vadum, (I had to throw that in given your introduction to me), tried to use two right wing references to define the CPC as "socialist". He didn't go directly to their site because it would not support his position. This is like asking an atheist to support intelligent (sic) design. Here is how their site defines their mission:
"The Congressional Progressive Caucus was established in the U.S. House of Representatives in the early 1990s. It reflects the diversity and strength of the American people, and we seek to give voice to the needs and aspirations of all Americans and to build a more just and humane society.
The Co-Chairs of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, U.S. Representatives Raúl M. Grijalva and Lynn Woolsey, welcome your interest in the growing Progressive Caucus. Our Caucus Members want to do more than speak out against extremism from the Right. We want to take on the Bush Administration's agenda by providing a comprehensive, thoughtful, progressive alternative -- what we call The Progressive Promise -- Fairness for All (PDF).
The Progressive Promise is rooted in four core principles:
1. Fighting for economic justice and security for all;
2. Protecting and preserving our civil rights and civil liberties;
3. Promoting global peace and security; and
4. Environmental Protection & Energy Independence
The fairness plan of the Congressional Progressive Caucus embodies national priorities that are consistent with the values, needs, and aspirations of all the American people -- not just the powerful and privileged. It reflects our fundamental belief in government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Accordingly, we will reach out to recruit new members who share our principles and want to join our fight.
Equally important, we are very committed to helping progressives inside and outside of Congress work together more closely and effectively than ever to make good on The Progressive Promise. "
It is true that Bernie Sanders was a founder of this group and that there is a socialist organization that supports it. Then again, David Duke and his group were aligned with Republicans. This guilt by association paradigm is weak, indeed, on both accounts. Here is a definition of socialism:
# a political theory advocating state ownership of industry
# an economic system based on state ownership of capital
I cannot find anything in their literature or positions that would follow that definition. They do believe in a redistribution of income. However, our government redistributes income all of the time. The only way to not redistribute income is to have a flat tax with no deductions (something, by the way, that I support).
The problem with a large disparity in income is that it foments anarchy. That is one of the things that is currently supporting the Democrat party, but believing that a disparity exists is NOT socialism. Minorities are a growing segment and if you cannot attract them, you cannot win national elections.
Sheryl/Tonypal/Big J -- I did not go to any protests. I did watch all of the channels, however, including Fox and did see the Hitler and many anti-Obama signs. I did not see any recognizable blacks or Hispanics -- just like most of the current Republican party.
Now, I do not support the CPC premise as I believe there is far too much federal government right now and the debt is out of control. However, I believe the bomb throwing and ad hominem attacks by Vadum and others hurt the chances of fiscal conservatives to be seen as mainstream. He makes Republicans LOOK like right wing extremists. It isn't that I disagree on many of the fiscal conservative policies, it is that I see them as marginalizing Republicans.
Smitty| 4.17.09 @ 2:19PM
Just so you all know: Bob is a RINO who is fiscally Conservative. I know this because Bob has told us so many, many times. On the other hand, liberal fascist trolls lie, and Bob has been caught in many lies. Bob is a Soros' astroturfer.
Bob| 4.17.09 @ 3:08PM
Smitty -- please enlighten us with any lies I have told and your resultant proofs. But then again, lemmings don't need proof, or any data for that matter. That is the issue I have with Vadum. So please, Smitty, tell me you are just not posting nonsense...
Smitty| 4.17.09 @ 5:38PM
You've been caught in so many lies there's not enough room here to list them all. Start with your statement that you're a RINO/Fiscal Conservative. Joker.
Daphne| 4.17.09 @ 5:40PM
Everyone knows you're a liar, Troll Bobbo. Your BS is not taken seriously.
MT| 4.17.09 @ 5:41PM
Blob's a liberal fascist troll.
Bob| 4.17.09 @ 5:57PM
Smitty -- I knew you were full of hot air. Let me see -- I'm for a flat tax, a consumption tax instead of a corporate tax, smaller government, against the bailouts -- and I've said that time after time. I challenge you, or Daphne, or MT to find any lie I've said. If you consider a fiscal conservative to be someone who believes the uneducated Limbaugh or Hannity, and think that you can make statements without supporting data, then it is you that is the problem. Please, guys, you can do better than this. If you think I am a liar, prove it. The people at AmSpec have my email and can check out any of the statements I've made. People like you who act without thinking are the real problem in the Republican party. And by the way, I've always stated I was a social libertarian and support pro-choice and the rights of gays to marry. Neither you, nor Daphne, or MT ever posts anything of substance and are examples of the lack of substance of the social conservative base of the party.
MT| 4.17.09 @ 6:08PM
Oh, stop the nonsense!!

Don't think so, Basil--Bob will never become human. He has no heart, you see.
Bob| 4.18.09 @ 2:07PM
Basil, when you claim some lies, you should have some proof. But you don't -- and that's the problem with social conservatives like you and MT -- you lack the ability to think.
ruth| 4.18.09 @ 2:11PM
"The tree that falls in the forest will not make any sound if there is no one around to hear it. In fact, that tree might as well not exist." So, if I ignore Bob's spurious posts does that mean he doesn't exist? Oh, joy!

Hey, Blob--what's shakin'? I find you an irritant, but have a good Saturday anyway. It's a gorgeous spring day; even you can't annoy me out of enjoying it.
Bob| 4.18.09 @ 2:55PM
Hey, Ruthie -- you and Basil always post at the same time -- are you really the same person? It wouldn't surprise me since neither of you post anything of substance. You are both just filled with hate... That seems to be a commonality among the social conservatives here.
ruth| 4.18.09 @ 3:03PM
Nah, Blob--Basil and I are friends with mutual respect. I can see that friendship is a foreign concept to you: Obviously, you are a lonely person who lacks people skills .
ruth| 4.18.09 @ 3:06PM
Basil and I posted nearly 12 hours apart--what you smokin', Blob?
Basil Plumley| 4.18.09 @ 3:21PM

Basil, when you claim some lies, you should have some proof. But you don't -- and that's the problem with social conservatives like you and MT -- you lack the ability to think.
I have not made any such claims on this thread. I have challenged you on other threads. I have even waited a couple of days for a response from you to my challenges. As a result, I have concluded you are full of it and make stuff up as you go along.
I even notice your absence on the education-issue articles. I would have thought someone of your distinct pedigree would have found a home in those threads.
Hmmm ... it appears you are getting obsessed with Ruth. Aren't you happily married or is it because you have problems with a smart, independent, and classy gal?
Considering your hatred of Palin, what else is one to think?
