I don't think we should have bailed out AIG. I don't think we
should have passed the broader "financial recovery" package. I
don't think we should buy the toxic assets. And I don't think the
AIG execs should have gotten those huges bonuses while being
bailed out by the taxpayers. But if the friggin' U.S. House of
Representatives passed a bill taxing your last bit of
compensation at a 90 percent rate, the New York Times
op-ed page might let you complain about getting hosed at your job
too.
Apart from the dubious constitutionality of this vomit inducing
act (bill of attainder), where would this lunacy stop. We already
know; it wouldn't.
The socialist is never satisfied. That is why you cannot accept a
faulty premise with the intention of softening the inevitable
impact with a dose of moderation or conservatism. Once the
premise is accepted, the socialist will not stop until the end is
achieved. Advancement might be painfully slow at times, but it
never, ever stops.
NY Times house conservatives such as David Brooks and heroic but
confused presidential candidates such as John McCain are examples
of those who do not grasp the fundamental nature of the leftist,
or as Mark Levin rightly says, the statist. Men like Brooks and
McCain accept creeping socialism, even as they reject it as a
governing philosophy. They simply don't understand the true
nature of socialism/statism and it's practitioners.
No longer can we sit idly by and accept false premises. They must
be rejected outright. They must be countered with undeniable
truths, spoken passionately and articulately. I love TAS because
the writers here get it.
Keep up the good work, Mr. Antle. The ball's in our court now. We
need to crush socialism/statism and all of its' practitioners.
Only then can freedom truly flourish and be an attainable goal
for all who suffer under the yolk of tyranny.
