Bobby Jindal opened up his speech to the National Republican Congressional Committee fundraising dinner in Washington by joking that he came to reprise his State of the Union response speech. Then he quipped that the speech can't be shown to prisoners at Gitmo, because it's now banned as torture.

Jindal is an opportunist-- he basically just wants to be first Asian POTUS.
I'll vote for Obama in '12, rather than the Oriental Despot from Huey Long's state.

Sorry, Bobby, no do-overs. You are an "Opie" of the Asian community as evidenced by your SOTU rebuttal.

Palin 2012!

Alan Brooks| 3.24.09 @ 10:29PM

Republicans are really scraping the bottom of the barrel with Jindal.

you'd think they would be able, with all the talent in America, to find someone half as good as Reagan and Ike. But if you thought so, you'd be a chump like me.

By the time Iowa comes around again, the Governor will find his footing in the speaking arena. And oh by the way gentlemen, references to Mr Jindal's ethnic background really has nothing to do with his speaking abilities nor with the topic of this post.

Aaron| 3.24.09 @ 10:47PM

I believe Gov. Jindal has a lot to offer the GOP. Many Americans may not be aware of his accomplishments and that is going to be up to him and the party to push to the public in the coming two years. As most who have listened to the Governor know, he made an extreme effort to slow his speaking down during that now infamous speech. He now knows that those who coached him were wrong and as he has demonstrated on various occasions since, when he is himself he is golden. His values and platform (firmly conservative) are solid. He is young and all American. He can drive home his point in a debate like machine gun fire, Obama would NEVER withstand a debate with this guy. I cant wait to see a Jindal/Palin debate or ticket for that matter. Or Palin/Jindal...

Aaron, i know you mean well, but Jindal-Palin or vice versa can't beat Obama-Biden in '12,
anymore than Bob Dole could beat Clinton in '96.
and Jindal's ethnity matters because that is part of his sales (and dont kid yourself, it is all salesmanship) pitch: "you elected a black Democrat; you can elect an Asian Republican"

Alan Brooks| 3.24.09 @ 11:12PM

and btw, Aaron, Iowa is three years from now.
a helluva loongg time.

Aaron| 3.24.09 @ 11:18PM

Mr. Brooks

Seriously, you are comparing Jindal and Palin to Dole? And no, you still haven't sold me on dragging his ethnicity into a discussion about about the Governor's abilities. Bringing in The President's adds nothing to your argument either.

Aaron| 3.24.09 @ 11:27PM

Alan, you seem to read a lot into what I'm writing. BTW the race begins in two years. Having grown up in Iowa, I'm painfully aware that in three short years there will be signs in almost every yard on almost every street.
