I hope you didn't think the Democrats by "different" ever meant anything but "more".

Granted, my priority is the lives of the weak, a priority in which Bush is millions of miles ahead of Obama. So spending wasn't my #1 priority, but I didn't like Bush's crazy spending either.

Still, watching people where spending was their highest priority always bemused me a little. In some ways, they underestimated how bad Bush was on that. They would say he was as bad as a Democrat; this was always nuts - Democrats either supported Bush's spending or opposed it because they wanted more. In reality, Bush moved the goalposts. Before, Republicans wasted money and Democrats wasted tons of money. Now, Republicans waste tons of money, freeing up Democrats to waste ludicrously obscene tons of money.

By "different" they meant, "We won't be hiding our Marxist ideology any longer", and they figured a muslim-educated, Kenyan/Indonesian, ideological communist illegal alien would be just the guy to cut Imperialist-pig Capitalist Americans down to size, and get the rest of the Third World to love us.
