The Progressive Quiz

The Center for American Progess has created a new 40-question online quiz to determine how progressive you are. I ended up with a very low score, which makes me "extremely conservative."

The average score vs that of so called conservatives is really scary. Other groups that should score lower don't. Like I said, scary.

ruth| 3.13.09 @ 4:31PM

Sorry, Klein, I don't need to take that fruity little Progressive Quiz to know that I am a Conservative.

Real American| 3.13.09 @ 5:21PM

Conservative Version:
0-10: I'm a liberal and I hate America, or I'm a conservative and I love America.

Erich| 3.13.09 @ 5:25PM

I got a 113...think I'd need to spend 10 years in Marin County before I made it to "average." Joke of a quiz, but kinda fun.

Thuzl| 3.13.09 @ 5:48PM

LOL!!

I got a 132. According to the graph Conservative Republican is 160. I am not sure how that is possible. These were some of the most loaded questions I have seen.

My favs were:
Immigrants are bad because they steal American jobs and abuse entitlements. (As if there is no difference btw legal and illegal immigrants)

Religions should focus more on tolerance and less on opposing abortion and gay rights. (As if religious organizations just spend their time planning how to combat these two issues.)

Wlady Pleszczynski| 3.13.09 @ 5:54PM

Phil: You're way out there; I scored 118, which only makes me "very conservative"; notice that the "average score for Americans is 209.5," according to the test, which means the country is a bit left of center. Or at least those patriotic and unpatriotic Americans alike who took the test. Needless to say, most of the questions were loaded. What kind of liberal utopia can we be living in if there's no room for nuance?

danny| 3.13.09 @ 6:58PM

i scored a 50. what does that make me?

danny| 3.13.09 @ 7:01PM

c'mon ruth, take it. bet you can't beat me.

danny| 3.13.09 @ 7:05PM

i know, i know, i'm rigid, but what can i say?

ruth| 3.13.09 @ 7:21PM

Is that score your IQ, Danny? Guess that makes you a rigid moron.

BD57| 3.13.09 @ 8:51PM

76 .... what a pile of crappola that "test" is.

Alan Brooks| 3.13.09 @ 9:04PM

people in Hollywood always did get the highest scores in college.

ruth| 3.13.09 @ 9:13PM

Alan, you mean High School, right?

danny| 3.13.09 @ 9:23PM

o.k. ruth, we can't all be as bright and elightened as you. sorry.

danny| 3.13.09 @ 9:27PM

enlightened!!!

danny| 3.13.09 @ 9:27PM

enlightened!!!

ruth| 3.13.09 @ 9:38PM

C'mon, danny, don't be so rigid--I was just funnin' with ya.

danny| 3.13.09 @ 9:46PM

thanks ruth, i was hoping that was the case. should'a known.

Alan Brooks| 3.13.09 @ 9:52PM

Oliver Stone did great in history class. they asked him who shot JFK and he answered: "Helen Keller".

ruth| 3.13.09 @ 9:56PM

LOL! What was his answer to who shot J.R.?

ruth| 3.13.09 @ 10:00PM

Oliver Stone's Major was Nihilism--he's always excelled at it. King Nothingness.

Alan Brooks| 3.13.09 @ 10:08PM

"conclusive electron microscope analysis proves Jeannie, Dr. Bellows and Roger Healy were behind the grassy knoll shooting at J.R."

Real American| 3.13.09 @ 10:11PM

I don't know how they know what the average American scores. It didn't ask me for my citizenship.

And, the questions are loaded and compound. I mean, you agree with part of the question, but not the rest of it.

OR, the question about most govt money going to the rich. As someone with a 76, I very much agreed with that sentiment. Corporate welfare and other subsidies really benefit the big corporations and snuff out small entrepreneurs and their innovations. The big entities and rich people wouldn't spend all that money bribing politicians if they weren't benefiting.

ruth| 3.13.09 @ 10:14PM

No, Samantha twitched her nose; I'm sure she's the culprit, the little witch.

ruth| 3.13.09 @ 10:16PM

The rich pay most of the taxes and they employ millions--they get most gov't. money? I'm confused.

Bobbi| 3.13.09 @ 11:23PM

I scored a 49. I am another "extremely conservative" American. Look out!

Alan Brooks| 3.14.09 @ 12:07AM

I scored zero because I advocate nuclear war, clubbing baby seals, eating lard sprinkled with sugar, and mandatory cigarette smoking in all public facilities.

Give War A Chance

Pkane| 3.14.09 @ 3:11AM

I was a proud 67.

My favorite loaded question is "I believe homosexuality is unnatural and should not be tolerated by society." What the hell is 'should not be tolerated' supposed to mean? I wonder how their islamo-fascist buddies would answer that one.

I thought this was a political survey - just ask a straight up question about gay marriage. Oh, yeah, that might be a problem, since almost every high ranking Democrat (including The One) is on record AGAINST it.

"Dissent is unpatriotic during times of war.." Hmmm, how about times of economic crisis?

Also, this 10 point scale makes no sense. Agree more or less? Either you agree or you don't. Typical leftist "nuance."

Pkane| 3.14.09 @ 3:19AM

Gotta love the map of the "New Progressive America," which seems to prove that almost every state in the union has shifted to blue since the historic launch of this groundbreaking online poll:

They are two-steps behind with the Quiz idea.

Ed| 3.14.09 @ 10:06PM

Woo Hoo I scored a 66

Aaron| 3.15.09 @ 6:53PM

Scored a 58, I dont think the real numbers are being reported. I'm calling fowl. No doubt I'm way to the right, but I wouldn't think I'm any further than the average career military guy, college educated, would be Jindal/Palin voter.

WendyG| 3.15.09 @ 11:13PM

My score deemed me Extremely Conservative.

Which is cool!

Mark J. Goluskin| 3.16.09 @ 1:13PM

I got a 55 score-"extremely conservative". Of course the questions were loaded. But, I think my result was pretty accurate. Where is the conservative version of this?

pigment Red| 4.7.10 @ 9:18PM
