In the "You mean, Kennedy's been shot" category, we get this from David Brooks, who has entered into negotiations with the Obama White House:

The White House folks didn’t say this, but I got the impression they’d be willing to raise taxes on the bottom 95 percent of earners as part of an overall package.

You heard about how curiosity killed the cat? Well, information seems to be bringing David back.

La! There's that troublesome word again....

"Nonetheless, the White House made a case that was sophisticated and fact-based."

Mr. Brooks, in the manner of a drowning man clinging to his lifeboat, is hanging on to President Obama for his dear professional life. Someone who knows the guy, do a favor for us, ask Mr. Brooks if giving PM Brown 25 DVDs or plastic helicopters from the White House gift shop was "sophisticated"?

It might cause the Coke bottles to drop from Mr. Brooks' eyes....

Brooks is a "house conservative". Sort of like a Jew who changes his last name to Jones, so he can be part of proper WASP company. But you are what you are, and maybe Brooks is beginning to smell the coffee.

Do we HAVE to take Brooks back? I say good riddance to bad rubbish.

Alan Brooks| 3.6.09 @ 1:25PM

the Clintonista we need is Newt, yep, he and Clinton worked together symbiotically.
But PLEASE no more Toffler! that stuff is "Marxism for computer geeks" (Richard Brookhiser) contributing to the bizarreness of today's America; you can't blame it on Obama.

ruth| 3.6.09 @ 1:41PM

Are you sure, Alan? He seems pretty liberal to me. :)

Alan Brooks| 3.6.09 @ 1:46PM
