Although generally opposed to school vouchers, Obama's Secretary of Education Arne Duncan is opposed to uprooting the children in the D.C. voucher program. Heritage has put out a nice video featuring students who currently benefit from the D.C. vouchers:

The rationale the EDU Sec. gave is that he didn't want to take away these kids' educational option, with which they're happy. Well, isn't the opposite of that to give more education options to more kids...through vouchers? But they're opposed to more school choices because they're beholden to powerful teacher/administrators' unions. They're denying a better education to kids to please a powerful special interest. That's Democrat politics as usual.

Arne Duncan was very careful in his support for the D.C. vouchers, saying he favored the current children keeping their vouchers, but his wording could be taken to mean that no more after the current crop.
