In a piece
for our Febraury print issue, I wrote about how the health care
battle would be much different this time around than it was in
1993/94 because conservatives will have few allies in the private
sector. Even insurers, who ran the famous "Harry and Louise" ads,
for instance, are now willing to cede ground on key issues. Enter
Richard Scott, the former head of the Hospital Corporation of
America, who has launched a new group, Conservatives
for Patients Rights, to demosntrate the consequences of
government-run health care and push for a free market alternative
based on choice and competition. In the Politico,
Jonathan Martin reports
on the group's TV, radio, and web advertising strategy which
launched today to coincide with the White House's health-care
week. Scott started the group with $5 million of his own money,
but he hopes to raise more and spend up to $20 million on the
campaign. Over at TNR, liberal health-care journalist
Jonathan Cohn has already
dubbed Scott, "Public Enemy Number One."
I can't listen to another Obama speech or press
conference. Am I the only one who can see
through his bullshit or am I just stupid? B

Bob: You ain't the only one. And some folks have just disappeared
... they are out there prepping their gardens, storing up food
and recognizing that inflation is a freight train speeding toward
us.
