Steele Indiscipline

Perhaps nothing captures the down-and-out condition of the GOP better than its having RNC chairman Michael Steele as a spokesman. On the one hand he trashes Rush Limbaugh. On the other he talks of withholding campaign funds from the Specter-Collins-Snowe trio. If Republicans are lucky, Steele will revert to his Senate campaign tactic of never mentioning his party affiliation.

Steele's reaction to the Porkulus Plan? "Disappointing."

I'll tell you what's disappointing but to me not surprising: Michael Steele

What do you expect from someone from Mary Land?

Robert Stacy McCain| 3.2.09 @ 11:04AM

It is kind of odd for Steele to be dissing Rush. Somebody needs to book a room big enough to accommodate the egos of all these Republicans who are dancing on the grave of the 11th Commandment with their constant infighting, and let them hash it out, face-to-face, whatever their differences are. It's kind of hard to get Republicans on the same page, when they're not even reading from the same books.

Steele is charming, but I've had my doubts while everyone was celebrating, because he seems something of an erratic showhorse (it is okay to compare a black man to a horse, I hope). His stupid hip hop comments, coupled with the Rush diss, suggest someone who is far from a being a serious thinker. He charmed his way into the post, but I'm afraid he's going to be yet another GOP disappointment.

Steele is beginning to show he is no friend of conservatives. Then RNC is not getting a dime of my money until he can get his act together.

Real American| 3.2.09 @ 12:50PM

WTF is Steele doing! Who is he trying to impress? Certainly not conservatives. The GOP will never win a national election without the help of conservatives, many of whom listen to Rush and think he's great, which he is.

If the GOP doesn't want to have conservatives in its party, then it will be a permanent minority party and this country will become the European Socialist state that Obama and his Marxist minions so desire. Is that Steele's goal?

If he wants to be me-too Obama-lite, then the GOP needs to quickly cast-off his faux-Republicanism and get a real leader of the party.

If the GOP doesn't stand against big government liberalism, then who will? The Democrats? Don't make me laugh!

People should check out the show Michael Steele was on when he denounced Limbaugh: The DL Hughley show on CNN. Hughley is a moronic, screeching black leftist who thinks Bush should be on war crimes trial and that Blagojevich is a great guy. Why on earth is Steele even wasting his time on a moron like that? If he devotes the RNC to bashing conservatives and kissing up to American-hating, black morons, I wash my hands of the GOP as long as he is there. Apologizing to people like that is going to do nothing for the GOP.

And newsflash, Michael, you are not the LEADER of the GOP, you're a bureacrat. You work for us.

Quin| 3.2.09 @ 2:12PM

Hey, don't blame Steele. He's always been a charming guy but a loose cannon. Blame the RNC members who were so hyped on insisting that they elect "one of their own" (somebody who had actually served on the committee before), and so open to short-term wooing, that they ignored basic homework such as the actual records and plans of the candidates.

Gary Ogletree| 3.2.09 @ 2:28PM

Lame reply to the clueless Hughley. Let's see if Steele can get it together before we cross him off as hopeless. We have seen him do well against similar idiots on other occasions. Need a talking points broadsheet that explains why it's good for America if Obama fails to destroy American capitalism.

stu.b.con| 3.2.09 @ 3:03PM

Steele is becoming a major disappointment. How does he expect to lead the RNC if he is going to act like a cut rate John McCain, who never met a Republican he didn't trash and never met a dimocrat who's ass he didn't kiss.
Oddly enough all the info on the obamatard's plans for the ruination of America at the RNC web site reflects what Rush has the cojones to say out loud. Conservatives and Republican must grow a pair and quit trying to play nice with those bums.
Just ask W how that turned out.

Frosty| 3.2.09 @ 3:37PM

Republicans lose because of weak RINOs; I'm sick to death of blaming our losses on Conservatives. What a bunch of idiots.

BD57| 3.2.09 @ 5:05PM

Steele is never going to win an argument by conceding the premises of the left.

Republicans gain nothing trashing Limbaugh - the ones that think they do will guarantee minority status for themselves and their progeny for two generations.

Seymour Kleerly| 3.2.09 @ 6:14PM

With the attitude of Limbaugh prevailing in the GOP., Democrats will just keep gaining more voters. The fact that it is now so obvious, and they still don't or won't admit it , says it all.

Mutty| 3.2.09 @ 8:38PM

Yes, Eye-Sore, Don't See-More, almighty one, you are right and we are wrong. We shall throw Mr. Limbaugh over the rail. Thank you for your wise advice, we know you have our best interests at heart (if you had a heart). Go away, moron. We're gonna kick your butts in 2010.
