Conservatives need to really get up in arms about the continuing fallout from the terrible anti-lead law that went into effect earlier this month. The Examiner editorializes on it here. And the single best place to track all its devastation is at Walter Olson's Overlawyered. Bookstore owners are literally destroying old children's books while thrift shops go out of business, motor scooter makers stop doing business in the US, and charities stop fundriasers that finance their rehabilitation services. This is serious stuff. And awful stuff.

A big THANK YOU! for the write up. The Boston Globe covered the story (finally - we're waiting for the NYTimes to get a clue). Please support the three bills - all sponsored by Republicans - S374, HR1027 and HR968. We need help tp put pressure on Pryor and Waxman (who keeps cancelling every meeting that gets scheduled for everyone affected by CPSIA to be heard) to get them out of committe and VOTED on. They are seriously doing everything they can to obstruct any change to this stupid, poorly written, overly broad, not truly addressing children's safety bill.

Send letters to Congress to support all three bills:

And, if you are a legislator and doubt there is support for changes to this law read the 97,000 comments on our petition here:

Thanks for your support!

You are right that CPSIA is serious, awful stuff. However you are a bit off when you say "Conservatives should be up in arms...". I am a democrat and I am furious about this law.

CPSIA hurts children, hurts families, hurts business, and hurts the economy.

If none of those things apply to you then you are probably a rock and have nothing to worry about.

The rest of us should be up in arms.
