Paul Mirengoff nails Eric Holder for hypocrisy on the matter of racial cowardice. I give Mirengoff points for bravery (and for insight and right reason). But Mirengoff better watch out: Holder sends weapon-waving thugs against those who don't agree with him. It's also worth noting that it doesn't take a lot of bravery to spout off when you are the chief law-enforcement officer in the land. And while Holder talks a good game about bringing races together, he is actually a devotee of racial bean-counting even at the cost of hindering public safety.

Methinks Holder is not the right one to make the case about racial togetherness.

Mr. Holder, here is my conversation about race: God created us all as equal and the Constitution of the United States guarantees that we will all be treated equally without regard to race, religion, gender, etc. You, sir, are now in a position to insure equal treatment by abolishing all set-aside programs at all levels of government to insure that the right person will be hired for the right job according to the judgment of the employer and not according to racial preferences and quotas. If you have anything else to discuss, give me a call. But not during the day. I’ll be at work. And unless you’re going to assign a law-enforcement individual or team to monitor my behavior on weekends and in my private life, I’ll “self-segregate” with whomever I damned well please.

love it when libs use the word nuanced to help explain why and how much more intelligent they are about things - example john kerry, and now eric holder - cowardly, bitter clingers out here in flyover country couldn't even begin to comprehend such complicated matters such as affirmative action,

The problem with Eric Holder and other PC Elite black Democrats they have played the race card because it is all they know. Like many of the "plantation gate-keepers aka " Civil Rights Establishment leadership, they have been brainwashed as they continue to be brainwashed. They live in abject fear that logic and common sense will intrude and evict them from their gated section of the "plantation ". The "shield " of race / class the PC Democratic Party has hid behind since Reconstruction was pierced with the election of Barack Obama - PC elite, emotionally needy, financially greedy, unqualified to hold the highest office in the land. The road to recovery for black Americans will be long and bumpy, but they will be able to say, believe it and mean it : " Free at Last !!!
To hell with Obama, Eric Holder and all the other plantation gatekeepers.

Thug.

Eric Holder, in addition to being a radical racist, was also a lawyer for Fidel Castro and liberator of those bomb terrorists from Porto Rico. Pardon for the FBI most-wanted fugitive Marc Rich is a minor matter among his accomplishment. Just like about 100% of those lawyers in government he has never held a productive job for which a private employer would want to pay.

I'm sick of blacks and their ass aches. Been hearing it over 50 years already, leave me alone.

Interloper| 2.19.09 @ 5:32PM

Quin Hillyer may actually offer Jeffrey Lloyd competition for being the biggest arse at the American Spectator.

Holder gave a really insightful speech about race relations in America. The fact that the far Right can only disparage what he has to say is proof that it has no interest in improving race relations. Quite the opposite. The Hillyer types would like nothing better than to return to what they believe were the halcyon days of the 1950s. That is why they supported the likes of Katon Dawson and Chip Saltsman to head the GOP, are cheering the current race-baiting of Mark Sanford, and actually think their party can move forward by moving backward.

The voters emphatically rejected where the so-called paleo-conservatives are coming from in both the primaries and general elections. None of their candidates, from Ron Paul to the Constitution Party were more than a bleep on the national radar screen. Sarah Palin helped to guarantee John McCain's loss. In electing Barack Obama president, most Americans made it clear they are not interested in the divisiveness that Hillyer and his ilk so avidly seek to sow.

Once again interloper shows he cannot grasp ideas presented. Holder is not interested in discussing race, he is only interested in letting whitey know that he's in charge now.
Holder needs to look at the FBI crime stats and accept the fact that his brethren commit higher rates of crime (including hate crimes) than white people. They do so because they believe it's their right. Holder is nothing more than a "blame-whitey sock puppet".

Ken| 2.19.09 @ 7:35PM

Perhaps "Interloper" might profitably meditate on the merits of applying reason to one's argument PRIOR to giving it public voice. Consider, for example, the absurdity of the following argument: AG Holder's observation that we're essentially a nation of racial cowards was truly insightful; if you disagree, I can prove you're wrong by pointing to the fact that America just elected an African American president. Huh? How is it, pray tell, that the election of a black president by a white majority population substantiates Mr. Holder's assertion that we're essentially a nation of racial cowards?

By the way, despite his "insightful" observation regarding our racial cowardice, Mr. Holder is curiously silent on the subject of how to resolve the "problem". How does Mr. Holder propose that we resolve the nefarious challenge of Americans exercising their right to associate with whomever they please in their private lives. Perhaps Mr. Interloper could enlighten us.

Finally, on the subject of self-segregation, one suspects that there might be a nugget of truth in Mr. Holder's argument - afterall, perhaps it's high time we eliminate self-segretationist entities like Black Entertainment Television, the Congressional Black Congress, Black Colleges, and (my personal favorite) the Essence Awards. Let's end the cowardice!

ruth| 2.19.09 @ 10:22PM

Forget trying to talk sense to Interloper, he's all about racism, all of the time.

Alan Brooks| 2.19.09 @ 10:44PM

Interloper ought to invite more blacks over to his abode. but he wont, he's an even bigger hypocrite than Holder.
i cant stand Intergroper being at AS; he's going to wear us down and he knows it. all he has to do is hang in there and not lose, while we have to try and win.

the slavetraders should have left blacks in Africa.

Alan Brooks| 2.19.09 @ 10:47PM

... i say blame today's black-white 'relations' on the slavetraders.

Alan Brooks| 2.19.09 @ 11:19PM

how bout a compromise:
i hang out with asians to be integrated, but ignore blacks altogether?

deal, Intergropen?

Basil Plumley| 2.19.09 @ 11:31PM

It's difficult to take Interloper seriously. The dude believes in the doctine of 'Separate but Equal'. He also claims to be a professor of Law-of History-and a psychology whiz.

A typical Interloper post consists of .......
a noun, a verb, White supremicism, or,
a noun, a verb, neo-confederate

A tip of the hat goes to Joe Biden; although I do wonder where he came up with the original line.

I would refrain from calling Interloper the biggest arse on the AmSpec blog. It may appeal to his fetish.
Dude, I hope your meeting with your Parole Officer went well.

ruth| 2.20.09 @ 12:27AM

Alan, Groper is not going to wear us down! C'mon now, Brooks, buck up, the battle is just beginning. Also, I have many Black, Mexican and Asian friends; everyone is welcome in my life. No problemo.

Interloper| 2.20.09 @ 1:36AM

The 'nation of cowards' phrase has been snatched out of context in a silly effort to discredit Holder's speech. Persons interested in the actual speech can read its full text here:

Interloper: Shut up & sit down. Do it again and you're gonna have to go to the back of the bus. You can't handle the truth. Love ya man!

Basil Plumley| 2.20.09 @ 8:32AM

In Interloper's case, it may be the "short" bus. Of course Interloper is another example of Montaigne's axiom:

"Nothing is so firmly believed as what we least know."

Ran| 2.20.09 @ 9:37AM

The problem with our marxist troller and with Holder is the very concept of "race" "relations." Race is an artificial differentiation. The whole point of conservative libertarianism is it's reference to the individual, such as Dr. King's judgment based on the content of character. As long as we first see people as part of some group, we will be stuck with marxist ideology to deal with the view. Hell, I can't think of anyone who, in marxist terms, is not a member of some minority "group" and therefore a victim of the "dominant culture."

I was taught to follow Dr. King's viewpoint, that of seeing only the individual and character. We don't need artificial constructs to divide us further. What I see in assholes such as David Duke is a "sensitivity" to "race". "Race" matters to him. He uses it to divide us. By contrast, Dr. King saw individual character - the ultimate distinction - as that which best unites us.

Examine the content of the character of those who whine about their victimhood, their group identity and the racism! the bigotry! they face every day ... you will find a coward under the surface. "Race" is the artificial crutch they employ to prop-up their excuses for personal failure, and it is the weapon we hand them in their quest for power.

Interloper knows this. Ditto Holder. Duke. That is why they cling desperately to the concepts of race and racism, their hyper-sensitivities, their "caring" for the "victims" ... they always "care" for the "victims" while grabbing power.

It's our fault if we hand it to them. We are the enablers of Holder and Duke and Alan Brooks and Interloper. Time to change the channel.

ken| 2.20.09 @ 11:01AM

Ah, yes; the old "taken out of context" defense (as if there is any context in which it is appropriate for the United States Attorney General to refer to the citizens of this country as cowards). Really, Interloper, we welcome the opportunity to engage in a good old fashioned battle of wits, but surely you'd agree that it's rather unsporting when one's opponent arrives unarmed...

Interloper| 2.20.09 @ 11:19AM

Careful there, Ran. Alan Brooks is very representative of you and the rest of the American Spectator regulars. Hardly a day pasts that he doesn't say 'send the blacks back to Africa' or something else offensive.

I suspect Dr. King would not find your false claim about what he believed worthy of more than a single word: Nonsense.

Eric Holder's speech is good advice for any thoughtful American. I'm sure there are people who will take it to heart.

ruth| 2.20.09 @ 12:34PM

Alan is not a hater, Groper; he still bears the scars from his traumatic childhood with his hippy parents. You, on the other hand, are a hater with an agenda. I'd take a million Alans over your sorry bu## any day of the week. I wish you'd go crawl back under your rock and not come back. Creep.

ruth| 2.20.09 @ 12:36PM

I hope you take my advice to heart, if you have one.

Alan Brooks| 3.17.09 @ 11:12PM

i never said send blacks back to africa, i say blame the slavetraders for bringing them here. in this case i'm being ex post facto, not pro-active.
many blacks blame slavetraders for bringing their ancestors here, dont they?
i'm on their side-- the blacks that is, not the slavetraders.
