Even in tragedy, the N.Y. Times can't help but look down its nose at such places as Buffalo:
"It was perhaps not the most glamorous of destinations, or the most luxurious of flights: a turboprop plane pushing through wind and snow and fog to an ailing Rust Belt city."
Reminds you of Tina Brown initially reacting to Prince Diana's death in late August 1997 by commenting that no one goes to Paris in August…
The Democrats say Obamacare opponents are a mob. Are they right?

I live in Tonawanda, NY, 15 miles from the crash site. Buffalo is repeatedly mocked and demeaned by national news, comedians, etc and while some people here are sensitive, I view it as coming from a position of ignorance. This is a wonderful place to live. However, I can't ignore this latest NYT diss. To kick us when we're down, in mourning, is an outrage. The lowest of the low. While I personally didn't know any victims, I know people who did. This is a tight-knit community and the impact of this tragedy has affected all of us.
Why the NYT continues to exist is a mystery to me. Disgusting!

but the NYT wont call chi-town an ARBC.

Do yourself a favor and don't read the NYT today. I stumbled across Frank Rich's piece and it's pure venom. He has no place writing political commentary. He needs to stick to chorus lines and other theater-related matters.

It'll be hard to even be concerned about the human cost when the Times goes broke for good.

I never really bought into the "culture of death" line of attack against liberals, but lately... I'm coming around to it.
That statement was so crass and bizzare that it could only have been included in the article for the purpse that is being inferred by it: insult.
Between this and the story last week about the "techinician" at an abortion center tossing a live born baby in a plastic medical waste bag to be taken out with the garbage, I'm really left dumbfounded at the level of hostility and callousness with which the left is infused.

May all of the deceased rest in peace.

Go to the nearest Goodwill store and purchase as many pairs of very tired shoes as you can afford, and mail them to the NYT, care of Rich and Dowd. They found the Baghdad disturbance so funny, let them have fun!

New York City should so be lucky as to only be an "ailing rust belt city".
It seems to be ailing from everything these days, not the least of which is floundering pandering political leadership.
Migration of 'top talent' to more favorable states. Continuing collapse of financial entities due to shoddy attention paid to sound business practices and/or outright fraud. And of course no one wants 'services cut', even as many whine about new taxes and fees. If I lived there I'd move west. Far west.

You may want to go west but just make sure that you stop before you get to the border of California.
