Scaremongering Continued

Just spend money, lots of money, is the president's message on the "stimulus" package.  Failing to act "could turn a crisis into a catastrophe," he said yesterday.  "The Republicans who have been blocking action are courting disaster," intoned the New York Times.  Right.  This liberal wish list, with much of the money unlikely to be spent for months or years, is necessary to save the economy.

Of course, this was the same con used by the late and unlamented Bush administration.  When the House rejected the TARP bail-out, the stock market fell.  So the administration prophesied disaster if Congress didn't act.  Congress passed TARP, and the stock market fell. Oh, never mind ...  Since then it has been obvious that no one knew what they were doing with all of that money.

Now we are doing the same thing all over again.  Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson captured the essence of the Obama program:

This will sound ridiculous, but the fact is that the details of Obama's plan don't matter that much.

It is ridiculous, but that's what the legislation is all about.  Just open the financial floodgates and hope that something good happens.  Don't bet on it!  At least, that's the lesson of past government boondoggles.

You, concervatives, why don't you stop whining. I'm sure you all voted or Bush and look what he did with the country. You were even lied to and you didn't even see it. Just try to be a little bit more moderate, just try.

The obama pork plan is nothing more than a taxpayer funded rebuilding of the socialist infrastructure. It has little to do with job creation or anything else that can be interpreted as a stimulus. The socialists and the media were vicious and foaming at the moutn and never gave Bush a chance and now they want us to be "moderate"? Check your dictionary for "anti-christ" and the definition is obama. He is another Hitler with his national socialism, fear, threats, and assignment of blame. I fear for my country!

What ever happened to the campaign promises of hope? All this gloom and doom talk is a cover up for their plan when it fails, they will still be able to blame Bush. I never heard Reagan blame Carter after he was elected, nor George W when he took over in a period of recession from Clinton. Reagan was rightly "the great communicator" - Obama is "the great intimidator." I wish he would stop whining and start leading. But, what should we expect from a person who never was a leader?

One rule remains etched in stone for all time:
No one can fill in a whole by digging it deeper.
I see nothing in the bill that creates the millions of NEW jobs PROMISED.
ALL I see is the beginning of the United Socialist States of America~!

Strange that HOPE has turned into FEAR.
What was FDR's mantra?
"we have nothing to fear but fear itself."
What is the Democratic mantra today?
"the sky is falling the sky is falling"
Why do they continue to pursue and harass W?
Because they don't have a clue either!
I agree with Dr. Jim. You cannot fill a whole by digging it deeper.

Spend nothing. Nothing happens. Nothing improves. Why is that so hard for so many to get?

ruth| 2.10.09 @ 4:18PM

Jack, when I'm broke I don't say to myself, "I'm broke, but no worries, I'll just spend myself out of it." Who says that? It's counter- intuitive and stupid.

Kat| 2.10.09 @ 4:22PM

Luisa, you liberals own whiny; it's all you're about, all of the time. Henrietta is your poster girl for success. Give me a break.

i've seen the same thing every four years since i can remember! during primaries the left goes crazy to gain or re-gain power by causing us to think the present administration is failing, thus causing reaction! media was so eager to get the scoop out that they went overboard causing a greater than usual response. the reports lacked anything that is supportive to consumer confidence. "yes we can" and "we want change" are for those who are on the "system" already, or dumbed down enough to believe that 1,000 bucks is a lot of incentive. the B.S. rhetoric is what causes panic and financial un-stability. people stopped spending and changed portfolios due to a condition known as panic. they the media caused the panic-palloosa and took it further than ever before to elect a black president. wooooh aint we cool now! you stupid bunch of infidels!!!
