An e-mail from the Senate Republican Conference points out that there is now near-unanimity in press reports that the Senate version of the stimulus package weighs in at $827 billion -- and they've yet to see the bill. They have point in saying, "This is not timely, targeted, or temporary."

I guess the Dems really do want this $827 billion albatross around their necks. We know it won't work, even the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has declared that this package will be BAD for the economy (the link is below).

If they really want to be associated with this abomination of a bill, I say let them... and any weak-willed Republicans who sign on are welcome to the same opprobrium as the Dems get.

I wish the liberal Democrats would point to one single time that government spending like this grew the economy and headed off a recession. They can't, of course, because it never happened. I knew they use the Great Depression all the time, but FDR presided over the Great depression for for nearly a decade. so, it didn't really work, did it? Nope.
