Ron Paul ... hmmm ... that name sounds vaguely familiar. Isn't he that "extremist" Congressman that all the mainstream conservatives were hysterically denouncing as a “wacko?” :-)

Yes he is.
Ron Paul has many positions on issues that are very attractive to many conservatives. He also has some that are a little too radical for the bulk of that group. On this issue, he was right and the bulk of Congress was wrong.
Just goes to show, no one is wrong all of the time. Except, maybe, Joe Biden.

Thomas, I was trying to make a humorous point. You weren't supposed to take the bait.

Most certainly he does. But the point is that that is the fault of "that group," not the fault of Paul's positions which are all in line with simply following the Constitution. That "that group" finds following the Constitution "too radical" is sad.
I believe there will be a day when a lot of conservative movement types look back and regret not supporting Paul.
