What business is it of ours to promote abortion in other parts of the world?
james23| 1.23.09 @ 10:59AM
As Obomber makes good quickly on his various campaign promises, the only Q is, how many more dumb columns and blog posts will we see from GOP mouthpieces aussuring conservatives that Obomber is really a great guy we can work with!

Life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. How can anyone on the left claim they stand of any of these ideals, when they allow a life to be taken away at its most vulnerable moment of existence (in the womb).
Valerie| 1.23.09 @ 11:56AM
I saw an interview with Helen Thomas the other day and she was talking about the fact she doesn't like to discuss her age because society thinks you are supposed to retire at a certain age. She made the statement..."I don't want to have to fight for the right to live" or something like that. Too bad she and her other goonie leftist friends don't apply that same principle to the unborn.

i dont say you are wrong,
but then go protest abortion clinics. it is YOUR responsibility, you are bringing it up.

Waterboarding to gain vital informaiton from those who would slit our throats wrong but sticking a rod into the brain of a baby and killing it is a right?? What a value system the new world messiah has!!
Paul Bixler| 1.23.09 @ 6:46PM
My feeling is if you don't believe that killing an unborn child is a sin, then if you have an abortion, it is no one else s business but yours. No one should have the right to tell me what I must believe. Because no one really knows if they are right or wrong. We all like to think we do, but that is something between yourself and your conscious.
RichmondGal| 1.23.09 @ 8:38PM
If abortion is something personal between a woman and her body, then it should also be paid for personally - a woman and her wallet (not mine) Once you start dipping your hand into my wallet, then I have a right to tell you how to spend MY money.
sherry| 1.23.09 @ 9:08PM
AMEN to RichmondGal, if a person wants to go against God because they are going to be inconvienienced let them, but not with my money! It is like we are paying for someelses stupidity. If a woman gets pregnant, then she should take the heat and deal with it. Not get rid of an innocent.
ruth| 1.23.09 @ 11:06PM
Just like a wrinkled old liberal gargoyle like Helen Thomas to fight for her life while dismissing the rights of the millions of perfect, innocent babies killed since roevwade. Sick, almost demonic.
Audra| 1.23.09 @ 11:51PM
Mr. Obama, thank goodness will one day have to answer to the God who created him. He would not be president today if his mommy ended his life with an abortion! He is making my blood boil today! No extremes, he is a baby killer. I can only pray for the mothers and the unborn.
sad| 1.24.09 @ 2:26AM
My flag will remain at half-staff as long as the government allows abortion.

bothers me. [read it all]
Cathy| 1.24.09 @ 8:58AM
Thank you, LastWinter. I have been anticipating this type of information (hey, we would no longer need to fund special ed. in schools -- maybe we could even impose a fine on parents who bring "imperfect" children into the world). This article made me physically ill.
gerry| 1.24.09 @ 11:18AM
To those who take a life away,
From unborn who have no say:
Who see no light, see not their kin,
You will answer for your sin.
ruth| 1.24.09 @ 1:40PM
We will all answer for this sin. We already are. God forgive us.

You sa, "taxpayer funds to be used to perform or promote abortions overseas."
The truth about the executive orders is this. President Obama rescinded two of Bush's actions: 1) a ban on U.S. funds to international family planning agencies that use their own money for abortions, abortion counseling or advocacy, and 2) a cutoff of financial support for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
These executive orders do not make federal money available to promote abortion. They do use our money to promote birth control, which is against the extreme stance of the Vatican (and probably the source of all this misinformation). Any abortion or abortion education funding comes from their own money.
The UNFPA estimates that some 200 million women worldwide would like to delay or prevent pregnancy, but are not using effective contraception. They cannot afford it or are not knowledgeable about it. Universal access to family planning could save the lives of 175,000 women each year and prevent the deaths of 1.8 million children under age 5, the organization maintains. It would also dramatically reduce the number of abortions.
Family planning for poor women is necessary.
ruth| 1.25.09 @ 9:13PM
Mothers lose enough babies in poor nations because of poor diet, water and lack of good hygiene. It's criminal to pressure them to have abortions, when their child death rates are already so high.
Jason L.| 1.26.09 @ 12:06PM
Its crazy to say that the funds are only used for birth control and they use their own money to pay for the abortions. That's like me saying its ok to give a drug addict money because he's using that money for his rent but his own money to buy drugs. The U.S. gov't is empowering abortions using our tax money! If they give them money for one thing, that frees up money for another. If its the same agency, and they perform abortions, any money you give that agency is money toward abortions. This is wrong. I strongly resent this.
