And that Palestinian leader Abbas blames Hamas for breaking the truce. Or that all the humanitarian aid Hamas gets goes for weapons with which to kill Jews - NOT to the people of Gaza as it it supposed to.

Now -- as to leftists desiring the deaths of Israelis.
If I had time to surf the internet, I could return here with a dozen completely idiotic and mean spirited comments and remarks by deranged reactionaries (like Ann Coulter) in about 10 minutes.
The fool who expressed satisfaction at the deaths of Israeli troops ought to be ignored -- as should the many people who post here and elsewhere their giddy and gleeful hope for more war to be made against Arabs, people of whom they know next to nothing.
What is happening in Gaza is just awful, and the Palestinians who have been firing those rockets into Israel deserve much of the blame. However, Israel -- by any objective standard -- is reacting in a way that seems guaranteed to delay any meaningful peace process needlessly.
Why now? we should be asking.
Because George Bush is the most impotent and least respected lame duck president in modern history.
The U.S. has no standing to exert any influence whatsoever. Obama is pretty much powerless to do anything; like he said, we have one president at a time in this country. Would that we had a wise, strong, intelligent president now.
Soon, though, we will.

Ann Coulter aside, you might want to spend those ten minutes surfing the net to find the many instances over the last twenty years when the Israeli government [very often in direct opposition to the wishes of citizens of that country] attempted to facilitate a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian problem. All such efforts being rebuffed by the Palestinian leadership. Radical Palestinian leadership, in their rabid desire to drive the Jews into the sea, have brought this upon themselves. If the Palestinian people want peace, all they have to do is get rid of the thugs that they allow to rule them.

The Israeli's must work for a peace process, but you're right, there are many among the Palestinians who do not want peace. It's extremely difficult to negotiate a peace when a group of 15 or 20 boys can derail the whole process with rockets they made in their basement.
But they have to try.

Well, this Jeremiah type- I have never met him but I do know the type. He probably works for the government or a university doing absolutely nothing useful except accumulating pension rights. He also believes that the rich got rich by stealing money from the poor - you see, the poor have all that money to be stolen. Among his beliefs is also the one whereby criminals and murderers are the victims of an unjust society who should not be in prison but rehabilitated through education by the teacher union. He is a firm believer in "social justice" and his hero, Abu Hussein from Kenya, will bring that ideal to fruition soon by printing a couple of trillion dollar bills for "wealth distribution". If he had been an adult in the 1930's he would proudly have called himself a comunist[; after the truth about gulags and mass murders became known he would have changed into a socialist; and, finally, when the poverty-producing socialism became unpopular, he finally changed his name into a liberal. But he is still the same fanatic in search of absolute power whereby he could tell us the real truth - to us the cruel reactionaries who should be eliminated from the path to a just society with him, Jeremiah, at its head.
