Moving On to Health Care

I received the following email the other day:

Dear MoveOn member,

Hundreds of thousands of us nominated and voted, and now the results are in—we know where to focus MoveOn's efforts for the next year.

We asked you to vote for your three top goals, but after looking at the results, it's clear that four rose above and beyond the rest.

Here's how it worked out, in descending order:

1. Universal Health Care

2. Economic Recovery and Job Creation

3. Build a Green Economy and Stop Climate Change

4. End the War in Iraq

The full results are here

It's pretty telling that within the confines of the far left, health care has leapfrogged over Iraq as the most important priority. I've been telling people that for all the talk about Barack Obama disappointing progressives, if he gets universal health care done, he could nuke Iran and still be a hero of liberals.

You know, why do some people continue to look to the government to provide all this stuff for them?

Here are my answers to moveon (and please move out!).

1 - Get a job that has health insurance as part of your benefits package or pay for it yourself.

2 - Stopped spending more than you earn and your economic situation will recover. If you want to create jobs, then...

3 - Start a "green" business and see how many jobs you can create.

4 - I actually agree with ending the war in Iraq, but I am positive my definition of "end" and their definition of "end" are different.

From now on, never let anyone say "creating jobs" without asking "who creates the salary".

OK, "Stop Climate Change" is pretty far left, and "green jobs" hang out there too, but, what is your problem with health care? Why isn't health care reform a priority on the right?

Are you aware that America ranks 37th in health care as a nation? Does that make you proud? I know we have the best hospitals, and doctors. This is true, and you can be quite proud of that. But as a nation, America "the beautiful", ranks 37th. Are you proud?

Is the 'Right' aware that your Corporate Capitalist buddies use a massive amount of propaganda to influence your opinions? Actively creating and using fear as an emotional trigger to cause reactions rather than thought. You fear "government control", because of "the conscious intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses".

All of the quality propaganda comes from the right. The Left has no serious professionals in this field. Propaganda is a very refined art of manipulation that has served them well. Capitalism has great merit, but it needs to be careful managed and watched like a hawk.

I know you're all a little emotional about this, it's OK, it's not your fault. The emotions were intentional, your anger, your fear, pretty much all of your political passion has been staged for you by real professionals. Just pay attention to how emotional the politics of the right are, how often fear is used, people are made fun of, and how little you actually know about them. You are being emotional manipulated and kept in the dark about a lot by allowing this to happen. The sky is not falling.

Oh and by the way, the Democrats are not going to take our guns, it's a myth, even Michael Moore is a gun owner. But the fear still sells. Good luck with that, and get well soon.
