When the Illinois state supreme court declined to declare Gov.
Rod Blagojevich unfit to serve at the attorney general's request,
I though it was the right decision. The argument that the fallout
from his crimes was comparable to a debilating illness seemed a
stretch, at least based on the written law. Blagojevich's actions
are rightly dealt with by other elected officials through the
impeachment process. And allowing the court to boot an elected
governor from office is a power that seems ripe for abuse, if not
a judicial coup.
But I am beginning to wonder if Blagojevich might not in fact be
stark, raving mad.
Prithee, from reading the more locally knowledgeable comments on
various conservative boards, I wot that this stunt of trying to
have the Illinois Supremes judge Blago to be non compos mentis
was an attempted end run around impeachment by the House of
Madigan (the paterfamilias--House speaker Mike Madigan--the
daughter--State Attorney General Lisa Madigan). Failing that,
there will be no way of prying him out of 410 East Jackson
without the drawn-out process of impeachment or a criminal trial
brought by Fitz. Both of which are guaranteed to be rife with
embarrassing revelations that may put half of the Illinois
political ruling caste in the stripey hole and perhaps even bring
down the great "O" (Lord of Lands, Lord of Seas, Lord of Sky--May
he live forever!), or at least cause Him some serious
discomfiture (and Him not yet even enthroned!).
Tis crystal clear that Blago is not about to leave his office
until someone makes him an offer. Unfortunately, at this stage of
the game any dealmaking will be held up to scrutiny and
criticism. If, as many of our conservative ilk think, the
"prosecutor's prosecutor" is a servant of the Democrats, every
effort will be made to protect the Lord Obama, but, as Blago
knows where all the bodies are buried, and his Daley-supplied
counsel is likely to subpoena any and all, it is just possible
that no charges will be filed. Indeed, the more conspiratorial of
mind have even conjectured that Fitz's numerous intemperate
public statements have been deliberately calculated to get his
case thrown out on a technicality. For all we know, it is just
possible that Blago may end up serving out his term. Meanwhile,
The One's arrogant stiff arming of the MSM is beginning to try
the patience of even the most devoted media sycophant. However it
tries out, the Serbian Heel (Milorad "Rod" Blagojevich, to be
precise) may well constitute an oozing chankroid on nether
regions of The Golden Child for quite some time to come.
Perhaps some good may come out of this mess in the long run. Just
as Katrina and it's aftermath rubbed Louisianans' collective
faces in their own socio-political effluent and helped to bring
about the coming of Bobby J. and Rep. Cao, so too, have these
developments put the fell, fetid Illinois/Chicago system on full,
tawdry display as a national disgrace and laughingstock. If
Louisana, of all places, can make a start in cleaning it's Augean
stables then perhaps...?

The Illinois governor, Rod Blagojevich may not be eligible for
payday loans, because he is out of a job. He was recently
impeached by the Illinois House of Representatives by a vote of
114 – 1. He will now have to stand trial for his crimes and, if
he's convicted, he will be out on his ear. There has never been
an impeachment of a sitting governor in Illinois. The Illinois
state constitution requires only a simple majority – 60 votes -
for an impeachment. 114 were turned in, so it is obvious that the
people want him out, just like they want payday loans when they
need one. He was arrested on charges related to soliciting the
sale of a vacant US Senate seat. The seat in question belonged to
Barack Obama, now President of the United States, who has called
for Blagojevich's resignation. If you want to find out more about
payday loans, then your judgment is unimpeachable.
