Let me tell you a little story about national parks and gun control. I took my family to the Grand Canyon a few years ago. We had to cut our stay short, because an escaped convict was holding up tourists along the south rim with a 44 magnum. This had been going on for two days before we arrived and continued for three days after we left. The law abiding tourists, who were unarmed, were totally at the mercy of this slime and the Park Police were understaffed and ill equipped to handle the situation. Fortunately, no one was killed.
Concealed carry in National Parks? It works for me.

According to the NP's Yellowstone Website, concealed weapons are illegal in the park. It has been that way for years. I would like to see it change as well, but we will see.

According to the National Park Service press release, there are only two states where concealed permit carry would not be allowed and those are Illinois and Wisconsin which do not allow concealed carry. The website probably has not been updated as the press release was made on 12/05 and the rule does not go into effect until January of 2009. This could change back under an Obama administration, though.

A few years ago a man, I believe his name was Hamm, was mauled by a mountain lion in a local national park. His wife bravely fought the beast off. He was severely wounded and required months to recuperate. How much better the outcome might have been had his wife been packing heat instead of a ball point pen.
