I'm with Jennifer
Rubin. Katon Dawson's long membership in a country club that
excluded blacks and Jews from being members should disqualify him
from serious consideration as chairman of the RNC. This is not
the direction the Republican Party needs to go in after a
second-straight electoral thumping. According to the
Statenewspaper,
Dawson resigned from the club -- but only in August of this year,
just a few months before he launched his candidacy for chairman
-- even though he had been a member of the club for 12 years. I
know I find this deeply offensive, and can only imagine how
moderate voters would perceive it, let alone the growing minority
popuation. It's time to give Dawson a taste of his own medicine.
Agreed - but where was the outrage with Senator-elect Kay Hagan
(D-NC)? She was a member of Greensboro Country Club here when it
excluded blacks. Why aren't Democrats held to this standard as
well? (e.g. Robert KKK Byrd)

Her husband was a member of the club (even though it was most
likely a family membership and she was permitted to enjoy use of
the club's facilities):

Morons. Morons.
Setting aside for a moment the appalling ethics of the thing: The
GOP loses to the first African-American presidential candidate
and the GOP is thinking about choosing as its chairman... a
long-standing member of an all-white country club???
You just can't make this stuff up.
If the GOP picks Katon Dawson, they will DESERVE to be a minority
party.

Mr. Klein, I find it offensive that you only mention 'moderates
and the growing minority population' as those offended by this
situation. Nice Conservative stereotype.
