President-elect Barack Obama will not move for months, and
perhaps not until 2010, to ask Congress to end the military's
decades-old ban on open homosexuals in the ranks, two people
who have advised the Obama transition team on this issue
say.
Repealing the ban was an Obama campaign promise. However, Mr.
Obama first wants to confer with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and
his new political appointees at the Pentagon to reach a
consensus and then present legislation to Congress, the
advisers said. , , ,
"What's the reality for the new administration?" he said.
"Financial crisis. Economic upheaval. Health care reform.
Environmental challenges. Where does 'don't ask, don't tell'
fall in all this? I would say it is not in the top five
priorities of national issues."
It remains to be seen if Obama's gay supporters will be patient.
Heh. So many liberal interest groups supported this guy with the
expectation that he would immediately do their bidding. Not so
fast...it seems.

As a veteran, I have no problem with homosexuals who desire to
serve their country.
To paraphrase Colonel Jessup, there are more than a few pansies
out there (especially in the media and acedemia) who love to live
under the blanket of freedom, but wouldn't lift a finger to fight
for it. The world is dangerous and America needs young men and
women who will risk all they have to defend it.
It doesn't matter to me if the guy next to me in the foxhole
happens to like other guys, he wouldn't be there if he didn't
love his country more first, and it is our love of freedom and
country that calls us to service.

Don't be lulled into complacency; Clinton used to use the exact
same tactic to stall oppositional response.
Obama’s newly assembled team of Clintonistas is likely reverting
to their old trick: say one thing and do the exact opposite.
