Here's the latest spin on fireside chats: Youtube addresses. And before one even takes office!

Man. That flag's got to be pretty annoying when he has to get out of his chair. Or when he reaches for those books by John F. Kennedy. Which he refers to a lot. Just so you know. Despite the flag sometimes getting in the way.

He obviously is not speaking from one of his campaign outposts, where "The One" zealots hang the Che flags.

Elijah| 11.15.08 @ 3:42PM

The JFK Books behind him are just too much. But exactly what you'd expect from such a cheap guy.

Jeffrey S Palaferri| 11.15.08 @ 4:46PM

What's with the made up "Office of the President-Elect"? Tak about ego. This guy is on some kind of power trip and boy, is this country going to suffer for it. Thanks, America for electing this boob into office.

Bobbi| 11.15.08 @ 8:13PM

I have one word for this-cheap.

Mary| 11.15.08 @ 8:34PM

This video leaves me with the same impression I've always had: there's something unformed about him.

Don't even know if I've correctly described my impression. I'm always thinking (because of his popularity) that I'm going to shake this feeling or sense. But, so far, no such luck.

ruth| 11.16.08 @ 2:19AM

Empty suit.

ruth| 11.16.08 @ 2:24AM

But at least he's finally wearing a flag pin. That means something, doesn't it? Oh, yeah, because finally, for the first time in his life, he is proud of his country. Where did I hear that before?

arthur| 11.16.08 @ 12:54PM

Ok conservatives, give the guy a chance. At least he trying new ideas using new technology. I know the guy - those JFK books are HIS. He refers to them a lot, and can quote whole passages from memory. He also reads a lot about Lincoln and Truman. Seems like all conservatives do is snipe when "w-supremacy" is "threatened" in some sort of way.

ruth| 11.16.08 @ 4:04PM

Arthur, thanks for your kind words; being a liberal, you definitely know something about snipe.

arthur| 11.16.08 @ 7:43PM

Ruth, I did not mean my comments to be "snipe." But would you admit that this country's trajectory arcs toward the liberal side of things? To be sure, there are many conservative ideas that I agree with - especially in the realms of taxation and minimal government. But to some liberals (especially those of color) the conservative message gets tainted because some of the messengers were at one time overt segregationists (former Democrats that moved to the Republican party after 1964). So that message came under suspicion.

But what does the word conservative mean? Its root means to "conserve" or to keep things as they are. It is a good thing the conservatives did not prevail at the formation of The Declaration of Independence - a picture of Queen Elizabeth would be on our currency.

The conservatives did not want to free the slaves. The conservatives did not want women to vote. The conservatives wanted Jim Crow to stay in place. The conservatives love diversity as long as it is working in the kitchen, cutting the grass or shining the shoes.

Need I point out more? There are some aspects of conservatism that are actually anti-American.

ruth| 11.16.08 @ 11:46PM

Please, Arthur, after 8 years of 'Bushitler' rants from your side many of us have liberal fatigue. Now you want to make nice nice. Well, excuse me if I don't immediately jump on your (do it for the country!!) unity and co-operation bandwagon. Let's see how you protect our nation from terroism, because many of us will be watching you closely. So stop whining and get to work, you liberal blowhard trolls.

ruth| 11.16.08 @ 11:50PM

Don't even start about freeing the slaves. Last time I checked, Lincoln was a Republican--not a Democrat. Nice history re-write. Lying imbecile.

Crusasder| 11.17.08 @ 11:18AM

Umm, Arthur, are you aware that Robert Byrd, former Grand Wiz of the KKK, is a Dem?

Conservatives wanted Jim Crow? Are you kidding me? That was all Southern Dems.

I hate diversity. Root word = divide. I hate diversity politics. I hate people claiming to be victims while they are the 4th generation of their family to be on welfare.

I love the melting pot. I love that anyone regardless of race, religion, or gender can succeed in America based on how hard he works.

ruth| 11.17.08 @ 2:04PM

Liberals see skin color, Conservatives value personal beliefs and convictions. Two of my heroes are Thomas Sowell and Justice Clarence Thomas. We are color-blind.
