Lost in all this chit-chat is the impact ACORN has had on the election. Not just their contribution in registering voters and getting them to the polls. ACORN was essentially a government-funded GOTV organization for Obama and had a big impact.
Given Democrat control of Congress and the White House, look for ACORN to only expand their participation (and government funding) going forward. It should be a front-burner issue for Republicans and conservatives.
Exit polls consistently showed that the Obama campaign nearly doubled the voter contacts that McCain had.
Unless there is a serious effort to counter ACORN, we could be in for long election nights in the future too.

Another strategic issue pertains to the canned response by Democrats to Republican allegations of voter fraud. The knee-jerk response is that Republicans are trying to suppress voters.
I recall a pre-election House hearing with FBI Director Robert Mueller. The only matter that Democrat representatives wanted to discuss with him was how he was going to deal with voter suppression. Clearly, they wanted the FBI to expend their energies solely on voter suppression despite the fact that none had been alleged.
Republicans need to consider this in view of future elections and the probability of future voter registration fraud and voter fraud.

Why should the ACORN concept only be something that Democrats can carry out? Why not a PECAN or WALNUT (or whatever can be made to fit a clever acronym). It would target the self supporting classes much as ACORN targets the welfare classes.

Super idea red neck, but we fight by listening to talk radio and reading blogs. Actuall organising and doing something constructive is not for us. Some how it must violate sacred conservative principles. You are implying that rugged individualism alone is not enough. Forming a group with all sorts in a big tent ? Does our fearless leader the blabbermouth in chief sanction such suspicious activity. Sounds like collectivism to me. Some of those self supporting types are linguini spined moderates. We'd have to actually talk to them, and heaven forbid " listen" to them. And then actually ask "them" to join "us". Are you crazy redneck ?

The future is bright. It's time to revive our roots and gather ourselves. We have bright candidates such as Jindal and Thune to represent us. Checking our opponents actions with the truth will take us a long way with the electorate.

The American Conservative Blog makes a good point. Where were the antiwar Conservatives. The Ron Paul Pat Buchanan wing of conservatism. Or critics of the lose money policies that got us into this economic meltdown??

Looks like to me its just the same old folks that supported the Iraq war minus the Weekly Standard crowd.
