Instead of dooming Barack Obama, the football gods may be smiling upon him. The Washington Redskins' loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers is a favorable sign for the party that lost the popular vote in the last election. Score one for the Democrats. Of course, this is an amended version of the Redskins rule. Other incarnations have been that the incumbent party goes the way of the D.C. football team in its last game before the election, which would have given us President John Kerry in 2004.
