You're preaching to the choir! He was NEVER our choice.

I take it you believe a "conservative" Republican could have won this November. I would submit that the Republican "brand" was tarnished back in 1996 when the party went back on its Contract with America.

The Democrats have been in power for so many decades that nobody really believes anything they say. Anyone who buys the Democratic brand knows they are buying into a share of the government goodies.

The Republicans were offered an opportunity to provide "adult" leadership, but quickly turned to pork barrel ear marking that demonstrated a complete indifference to the real needs of this society.

It's one thing to run a con that everybody is actually in on, which is the Democratic gig. It's something else to con people who really want to believe that you have a better way for them. In the later case they will sooner or later wake up and hand you your head. Witness November 2006 and November 2008.

The fault lies not in the McCain, but in ourselves. (With apologies to William)
