Over at Reason, Dave Weigel has a good write-up
of B.J. Lawson, the most credible of the Ron Paul Republicans
running for Congress this year. Running against an entrenched
incumbent in a gerrymandered Democratic North Carolina district,
he's nevertheless been able to wake Congressman Price from his
slumber. Yet even a Republican like Lawson, who has broken with
the Bush administration on amnesty, Medicare Part D, No Child
Left Behind, wiretapping, and, above all, the Iraq war has found
himself brought low by the Bush brand. If the latest
generic ballot numbers are any indication, a lot of
Republican challengers are going to find themselves in a
precarious position.
Well, Republicans should have thought of that when they stood by
and allowed the Dems and the MSM to trash the man for the last
eight years. I have several points of disagreement with the Bush
Administration on policy. But, I firmly believe that he will be
called one of the top ten Presidents within fifty years. His was
the "Security Presidency" and he achieved much of that goal.

You betcha' M. Tobias. That this man has kept us safe since 9-11
has been deemed irrelevant.
