I mean, my God, this woman is simply awful; the elided vowels,
the beauty pageantry, the guns, the crude non-Episcopal
protestantism, the embarrassing porchload of children with
horrifying hillbilly names, the white after Labor Day. As
fellow conservative commentator Andrew Sullivan quipped to me
the other day outside a Martha's Vineyard antique shop, it's
gratifying to know the Gipper isn't alive to see what has
become of his party. . . .
The idea of this dreadful woman in Washington is almost too
much to contemplate. Not only would it be a fashion disaster,
one can scarcely imagine the White House social calendar --
mooseburger fetes to that ghastly Joe the Plumber, perhaps
followed by snow machine derbies through the Rose Garden?
This is essentially the anti-Palin argument, n'est-ce
pas?
And conservatives wonder why libertarians don't trust them? We're
alwasy there for our conservative cousins in elections. But when
one of our libertarians gets elevated, our conservative friends
diss her, and downgrade her.
We'll remember this next time a conservative "ally" pushes a
stack of brochures into our hands and asks us to walk a precinct
or two.

And Iowahawk remains a master of his trade. He's really outdone
himself this election year.

Well, I guess that is the shallow anti-Palin argument, which is
pretty much all the Beltway offers up for either side of the
candidate slate. But if you think that such inane ramblings about
Palin's wardrobe, her speech, and the names of her children are
the only problems with Palin, then you are ignoring many of the
unfavorable characteristics she has displayed since her selection
as VP candidate.
