Stacy: Just because you're a genuine reporter doesn't mean
you're also genuinely cynical. Similarly, just because I'm not a
real reporter doesn't mean I'm hopelessly naive. By comparing
Bristol Palin's situation with his own mother's when she had him,
Obama has elevated what could be a political fiasco into a poetic
moment, the implication being that if one 18 year old gave birth to
a political savior who is to say young Bristol may not herself be
carrying the next Messiah Obama?
Of course, I suspect Obama knows the common sense of the
American people will lead many to wonder why in the world Sarah
Palin accepted the vice-presidential offer in such
circumstances...
